Patient Statuses

Before you can use patient statuses in NextGen® Enterprise PM, you need to set up a master file with the requirements for each status. Users can select these statuses on the Status tab when they modify patient information on the Patient Chart.

  1. In File Maintenance, under Master Files, select Practice > Patient Statuses.
The Patient Statuses List window opens.

  2. Select Open Menu , and then select New.
The Add Patient Status Information window opens.

  3. Enter the description of the status in the Patient Status field.
  4. In the Options section, select the Include Status in Alerts check box to display this status as a System Alert.
  5. Select the Appointment Scheduling check box to enable the scheduling options for this status. Select one of the following options:
    • Create a Conflict - a scheduling conflict is created when this status is encountered for a patient.
    • Prevent Scheduling – scheduling an appointment is prevented when this status is encountered for a patient.
  6. Select OK to complete the process or select the Next button to add additional patient statuses.
  7. If necessary, open the Master Lists and add new Patient Status Change Reasons so users can select a reason for changing a patient status in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
