Form and Label Templates Toolbar

The Form and Label Templates toolbar enables you to make changes to forms and labels and to the fields on them. The following table describes the function of each button on the toolbar. Button Description The Save Form/Label Template button saves your changes to the form. The Delete button removes the selected data field from the form. The Insert Data Field button opens the NextGen Data Repository so that data fields can be added to the form. The Font button enables you to set the font type for free text entered in the form. The Template Properties button enables you to set margins and paper size for the form. The Template Sorting Preference button enables you to specify the fields you want the forms to be ordered by as they print in NextGen® Enterprise PM. For example, the forms could be sorted by the last name field as they print. The Exit Form Design button closes the report. The File Maintenance desktop displays. Parent topic: Forms

Form and Label Templates Printing Sort Order

You can specify the form fields that you want to use to sort a form or label template based on the form fields used to create the form and label template. When you set up the form fields that you want to use to sort the forms or labels by, the form or label templates automatically display in that sort order when previewing or printing in batch mode. Note: You can select a maximum of five form fields for the printing sort order criteria. If you attempt to select more than five form fields, a window displays to remind you. Details Tab

On the Details tab you can set additional formatting information for form and label templates. The details you can set depend on whether you are modifying a form or label template. To set up a template details: Select Template Properties on the Label Template toolbar, and then select the Details tab. The Template Properties window opens. Form Template Details When you modify a form template, the Details tab enables you to set formatting information and select whether to include voided charges. Label Template Details When you modify a label template, the Details tab only displays the size and formatting information for the selected label. The only way to access and modify this information is to choose Custom as the Label Product on the Options tab. Forms

You can create and modify templates to standardize patient forms that are used by your practice. The form templates determine the structure for patient forms, such as where certain information must be placed on the form. For example, if you have pre-printed fee tickets, you can set up a template to your specifications. You can create label templates for mailing labels, chart labels, form labels, or any other labels you need. To design your own forms, you need to access the Forms Templates master file from File Maintenance > System > Forms master file. Set Up Labels Template Properties

On the Options tab you can select label information. You cannot access the tab when you are modifying a form template. You also set up postcards for laser printing in the same manner as label templates. To print postcards, select one of the postcard options from the Product Number list on the Options tab. In File Maintenance, select System > Label Templates. The Label Templates List window opens. Open the template. Select Template Properties on the Label Template toolbar. The Template Properties window opens. Select the brand of labels to use in the Label Products field. Select Custom to enter your own dimensions. In the Product Number field, select the label number you want to use. The list changes depending on the label product you choose. The dimensions display in the Label Information section. Adjust Field Properties and Layout

After you have inserted a field on your template, you can view and update its properties. You can also visualize field properties and resize, move, and align fields. Do one of the following: To display the shortcut menu, right-click the field, and then select Properties. From the Template Editor Menu bar, select View, and then select Properties. The Properties window for that field appears. To update properties, see the topic on inserting that field type and to the topics on Set General Properties for Multiple Fields and Field Font and Color Properties.
