Libraries Practice Preferences Descriptions

Default Libraries Select the following libraries for the practice as needed. Diagnosis Code Library: Select the Diagnosis Codes library to be used in the practice. Service Item Library: Select the Service Items library to be used in the practice. Claim Modifiers Library: Select the default Claim Modifiers library to be used for all payers in the practice, if applicable. Payer-specific libraries are linked to the payer in the Payers master file Practice tab > Libraries sub-tab. NDC Library: Select the NDC library to be used in the practice. Claim Edits Library: Select the default Claim Edits library to be used for all payers in the practice. Payer-specific libraries are linked to the payer in the Payers master file > Practice tab > Libraries sub-tab. Self Pay SIM Exception: Select the SIM Exception to be used for all self-pay patients in the practice, if applicable. Eligibility Profile Library: Select the default Eligibility Profiles library to be used for all RTS payers in the practice

Enterprise Preferences - General Tab

The general default information to be used throughout your practice and all related service locations, can be set on the General tab in Enterprise Preferences. Setting Up Document Management Preferences in Enterprise Preferences

The Document Management tab on the Enterprise Preferences window displays only if you have a license for NextGen® Document Management. This tab enables you to set some NextGen® Document Management options at the enterprise level. To set the enterprise preferences, you must: Set a network share location to store all documents and images used by NextGen® Document Management. Enable network impersonation so you can set restrictions on access to the network location where the actual documents and image files are stored. Allowing Default SIM Library Use During Charge Entry

When Advanced Service Item Mode is enabled, it restricts the service items to only active SIMs within the library derived during charge entry. If the application does not find an active SIM in the resulting library, the application stops the charge entry process. You can change the settings to allow a search of the practice default SIM Library, if an active SIM is not found in an initial search of the derived library. The application will allow users to continue the charge entry process. You can also create an alert message that displays when a SIM is not found in the derived Service Items library. The message displays in NextGen® Enterprise PM during charge entry, NextGen® Enterprise EHR procedures module, NextGen® Enterprise EHR templates that use a procedure trigger, and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates that use a NextGen® Enterprise procedure trigger. Preventing Use of Default SIM Library to Determine Charges

When your practice uses Advanced Service Item Library Mode, you will require an effective location to be selected in the pricing regions before the application can determine which Service Items library to use. When Default Pricing Region Library for Self Pay and Default Pricing Region Library are defined in the Enterprise Preferences, but no effective location exists, then when a user enters a procedure, the Service Item library selected in the Libraries Practice Preferences is used, by default. You can prevent the practice-level Service Item library from being used by selecting Require Effective Location in Pricing Region check box in the Enterprise Preferences Libraries tab. Requiring an effective location provides more control over which payer a user can attach to a charge or procedure. For example, users will be unable to select a payer that is not affiliated with a location. When a user enters a procedure, a message displays that a location is not selected in the pricing region. The following table provides descriptions of the fields located in the Libraries Enterprise Preferences. Field Description Enable Advanced Service Item Library Mode Caution: Once you enable this feature, you cannot disable it. This check box turns on all features that enable you to set prices by configuring locations into payer-centric groupings.
