General Tab

The General tab on the Default Appointment- Scheduling Preferences window enables you to set the default appointment scheduling preferences.

The following table describes the fields on the General tab.

Refresh appointments every "X" minutesIf there are multiple users scheduling appointments at the same time, you can make the application refresh the appointment book at set intervals by entering the desired number of minutes. The refresh option updates the appointment book with any new appointments, cancellations, and modifications.
Default scheduler start timeYou can enter the time that you want displayed initially at the top of the appointment book views.
Default appointment look up dateYou can select a default date that fills the Appointment Date, Beginning, and Thru fields on the Appointment Lookup window. After the default appointment look up date is set, the next time a user accesses the Appointment Lookupwindow, the Appointment Date field displays the value entered and the Beginning and Thru date fields display the calendar dates for that value.
Start appt book with this viewYou can select the Appointment View that you want to see when you initially open the Appointment Scheduler: Daily, Weekly List, Weekly Schedule, Monthly, Yearly, or Multi-View.
Default appointment lookup statusYou can select the default appointment status for the Status field on the Appointment Lookup window.
Automatically select default resource(s) when creating new appointmentYou can select the option to automatically select the default resources associated with the event set up on the Events tab in Scheduling Administration.
Only show category specific events for appointment start time /resources selectedYou can select the option to show only the events that are associated with the category of the appointment being scheduled set up on the Categories tab in Scheduling Administration.
Show category and location tooltips on appointment bookYou can select the option to display the category and location tooltips in the appointment book. Pointing to the category in the appointment book displays the category and location in the upper right corner.
Show appointment confirmation after scheduling appointmentYou can select the check box to display an appointment confirmation after an appointment is scheduled. The confirmation displays the patient and appointment details for every appointment that is scheduled. If the check box is is not checked, the confirmation does not appear.
Strikethrough kept appointments on appointment bookYou can select the option to display a strikethrough on the patient's name after a user checks the patient in.
Bold checked out appointments on appointment bookYou can select the option to display the patient's name in bold in the appointment book after a patient is checked out.
Display notification when scheduling an appointment that is linked to other appointmentsYou can select the option to display a notification while scheduling an appointment that is linked to other appointments.
Display resource intervals in Multi-View column headersYou can select the option to display the time interval duration for the resource next to each resource name in the column headers of the Scheduler Book. The check box appears only when the Allow interval overrides check box is selected in the Appt Scheduling Practice Preferences.
Display appointment text in Workflow status colorYou can select the check box to change the appointment text colour from the workflow status of an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise PM Appointment Book to the current workflow status color.
