Code Table Descriptions

You cannot create codes in the code table listing, you can only modify the descriptions of existing codes or hide codes. If a code that your practice uses is missing, contact NextGen Healthcare Support. The following table describes the available code tables. Code Table Description Allergy Criticality Enables providers to select allergy criticality values in the Medication Allergies module. The values are High, Low, and Unable to Assess. The code table complies with Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (CCDA R2.1). Allergy Severity The available codes are: 1 - mild 3 - moderate 5 - severe 7 - unknown Indicates severity of an allergy reaction. The code table is part of CCHIT certification and is the required subset to qualify the severity of an allergy in a Continuity of Care Document (CCD) document. View Code Tables for Dental Billing

The Tooth, Surface, and Quadrant code tables in File Maintenance are preloaded with standardized codes and descriptions that are used to identify teeth, surfaces, and quadrants for dental services entered on the Charge Posting window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Access File Maintenance. Select Code Tables. The Code Tables List window opens. Select a code table from the Code Table list. Items within the selected code table are displayed. Add External Systems for Code Tables

Open File Maintenance, select Code Tables. Select a code table from the Code Table list, and then double-click a code. The Modify [Code Table] Information window opens. To add or modify external systems for code tables, from the External tab, do one of the following: To open the Add External Interface window and add an item, select open menu , and then select New. To open the Modify External Interface window and modify an item, select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. In External ID, enter the ID that represents the resource in the external system. In External System, select the system to interface with NextGen Healthcare applications. General Tab

The Service Items Library > General tab includes general information for each SIM code that affects charge posting, billing, claims and reporting in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The General tab includes the following fields: Field Description Place of Service You can select a default Place of Service. This default displays on the Charge Posting window. Notes: A place of service selected at the SIM level overrides a place of service at the location level. You can select <none> as the place of service if the service can be performed at different kinds of places. However, if you select <none>, the charge does not create. Component Select the component type for this service item: Global (both the technical and professional), Professional (physician supervision and interpretation), or Technical (equipment or technology). The Component field appears only if the SIM fields: Show dept, modality and component check box is selected in the Libraries Practice Preferences. This field is required. Note:

Set Up UB Claims for Regular UB Users

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Admin menu and then select Preferences > Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preference List on the left, select Claims. To select the default facility code to display on all UB claims for the practice, select a code in the Type of Facility field. The code selected here is the first digit of the three-digit Type of Bill code that displays in Field Locator 4 on UB claims. Note: The Type of Facility field must be populated to enable UB claims for the practice. This also enables UB Claims tabs on the Add/Modify Payer Information window that are used to setup UB claims for specific payers. Type of Facility codes are maintained in Code Tables in the File Maintenance. The codes cannot be changed, but the descriptions can be modified if needed. Only the code displays on UB claims. Creating a Case

Because NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM share the same database, Case information captured in NextGen® Enterprise PM is available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. The same information should appear in both applications when creating, editing, and viewing Cases. If you are using a different practice management system, all of the relevant Case information is populated in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR through an interface. The information added or modified at the Case level is inherited and available at the Encounter level. Case details are associated with modular data including medications, allergies, problems, procedures, and labs. For example, a patient may have been prescribed pain medication for a back injury that occurred at work. The patient may also be taking other medications that have nothing to do with their back injury, such as birth control, heartburn, allergy-treating, or other unrelated medications.
