Apply a Formula

After you set up a formula in the Retail Price Formula master file, you can apply the formula to your inventory in the File Maintenance application. The formula is applied in the following manner to all items that meet the formula criteria:

Retail Price = Mask + (Round (Catalog Price + (Catalog Price * (Markup / 100)) + Addon))

Example:

$209.99 = $9.99 + (None ($50.00 + ($50.00 * (200 / 100)) + $50.00))

To apply a formula in the File Maintenance application:

  1. Select the formula from the Default Formula tab or the Formulas with Location(s) tab on the Formula Maintenance window .
  2. Select Apply.
The Execute Retail Price Formulas window opens.

The following table shows the icon legends in the Execute Retail Price Formulas window.

    IconIcon NameDescription
ProcessedIndicates the formula has been calculated
BusyIndicates the formula is being processed for the inventory it applies to
ExcludedIndicates the formula is not included in the calculation process
  3. Select Execute to apply the formula for all formulas created.
The formula is calculated and the pricing is assigned to the specified items. When this process is complete, the Processed icon appears to the left of the formula.
  4. Select Close.
Although the formulas display in the alphabetical order on the Execute Retail Price Formulas window, the system uses a hierarchy when executing formulas. The system queues the formulas in the following order:
    • The formula you applied first by selecting Apply.
    • Additional formulas that are more specific. If more specific formulas are found, they are queued to run after the first. This prevents the system from overwriting a very specific formula with a more generic one.
    Example:
A client has three formulas: one for All Frames (category of frames defined), one for rimless frames (category of frames and category type of rimless defined), and one for frames by Silhouette (category of frames and vendor of Silhouette defined.)
    • If the All Frames formula is opened and applied, all three formulas will run.
    • If the Rimless formula is opened and applied, the Rimless (category type specific) formula will run followed by the Silhouette (vendor specific) formula. The All Frames formula will be excluded.
    • If the Silhouette formula is opened and applied, the Silhouette formula will run, but the other two formulas will be excluded.
