Copy a Service Category

To copy a service category, perform the following steps: Access Master File > System > Service Categories. Select a service category form the list and select Open Menu or right-click the service category. Select Copy. The Copy Master File window appears. The Please enter the Category Name and Please enter the Shore Description fields are required. Note: Use a different name and short description from the service category you are copying. Select OK. The Service Categories List window appears and you can verify the copy you created is listed. Note: When a service category is copied, SIM codes only display in the practice where they were created. Modify a Service Category

To modify a service category, perform the following steps: From Master File > Service Categories, select Open Menu and select a service category. You can right-click to open the service category. The Modify Service Category Information window appears. Field Description Category Enter a description for the service category. Short Description Enter a description, up to four characters, for the service category. Key/ Service Displays the CPT4 Codes associated with the service category. It lists the standard numeric abbreviation and the full description for the procedures. If a code appears twice in the list, then one code is in the default Service Item library of the current practice while the other is in a different library. A check mark in a row indicates that the code resides in the default library. You can remove codes with check marks from the category. Service Categories

In the Service Categories master file, you can set up a complete list of service categories for procedures. This master file contains preloaded categories, but you can add more. Add SIM Groups

In File Maintenance, select Libraries, and then select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the applicable library, right-click and select SIM Groups. The SIM Groups List window opens. To create a new SIM Group, select open menu button , and select New. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. In SIM Group field, enter a short name of the SIM Group. In the Description field, enter a description of the SIM Group. To add a new SIM, select Open Folder and search for the SIM. To add the item to the group, use the blue Include arrow to move the item to the Available list. To remove a SIM item from the Available list by selecting the SIM item and then the blue Exclude arrow. The indicates the search type. If the icon is listed next to the SIM column, the system will search by SIM number. You can select the Description column, which enables you to search by the service item description. Providers Categories Tab

The Categories tab allows you to select the service, diagnosis, and modifier categories to assign with the provider. Field Description Service/ Diagnosis/ Modifier Select the category type you want to assign. Available Categories Lists the items in the category you selected. These are items that have been set up in the following master files: Service Categories, Diagnosis Categories, and Modifier Categories. Assigned Categories Lists the items in the category you selected. Category Details Displays the key and description for the item in the selected category. Manage Service Categories

In File Maintenance, you can add or remove the service items within a service category used for standing orders. Open the File Maintenance. In Master Files, click EHR under System. From EHR Master Files - System, click Service Categories. The Service Categories List window opens. In Service Categories List Search field, type the first few letters of the service category name. For detailed information about the naming conventions of service categories, see the Double-click the desired category in the search window to display the Modify Service Category Information window with a list of service items available in the service category. The Key column displays the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes associated with the service category. The Service column lists the full description for the procedures.
