Field	Description
ICD Type	Select one of the following: ICD-10 ICD-9
ICD	Enter the first code in the range of codes that you want to change either the effective or expiration date.
Thru ICD	Enter the last code in the range of codes that you want to change either the effective or expiration date.
Select Codes Effective On:	Enter the date the codes became active.
New Date Properties section	Select one of the following: Eff Date Only - to activate the Eff Date Only Exp Date Only - to activate the Exp Date Only Both - to activate the Eff Date Only and the Exp Date Only
Effective Date	Enter the date you want the ICD codes to become active.
Expiration Date	Enter the date you want the ICD codes to expire.

Update Codes from the ICD Master File

Use this procedure to add ICD codes from the master file into the selected library. This process gives you the option of importing either the ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes from the master file into the selected library. You can choose to enter codes by category by using the ICD and Thru ICD codes, the date the codes are to become effective, or the expiration date. In the File Maintenance, open Libraries > Diagnosis Codes > select the desired library. The Diagnosis Code Library Maintenance window opens. In the ICD field, select the Question Mark icon. The ICD-CM Code Search window opens. Search for the ICD code. Right-click on the code and select Update Eff/Exp Dates. The Update Eff/Exp Dates window opens. Manage ICD-9 and ICD-10 Defaults for Payers

You can change effective and expiration dates for payers that use ninth or tenth revision codes of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9 or ICD-10). By changing effective and expiration dates for ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes at the payer level, you can configure financial classes that contain many payers switching to ICD-10 codes and a few payers still need you to submit ICD-9 codes. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Select the financial class to be updated from the financial class grid. The effective and expiration dates of the selected financial class are filled in their respective fields. Select the payer's name from the field for payer name.
