Practice Preferences for Reports

You can set up default information for system-generated reports for your practice and all related service locations. The table describes the preferences that you can set up for reports.

FieldDescription
Report ServerSelect the report types that you want to run through the Report Server. You must have NextGen Healthcare's report server set up to view the list and use this feature. You cannot run the selected reports in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
Generate from Report Server When report Filter1 exceeds __ daysSelect this option to use the report server as the data source for large production reports. This helps reports to run more quickly without network lag.

You must enter the number of days to indicate the limit threshold. Any report date run over the entered number of days automatically uses the report server as its data source, and the report is titled Report Server.

Default External Charge Import AgentSelect this option to set the DocuScan agent and run the DocuScan report. If you leave this field blank, the DocuScan File Import is used by default.
Report Header/Footer DefaultsSelect Line Wrap Text to wrap data in a report column to the next line when all the information does not fit on a single line.

Select Show Practice Title to automatically select the Practice Title option in the Customize Report/Footer window. The practice name displays in the header of all applicable reports.

Large Report OptionsIf your practice runs large reports, set the following preferences:
  • Select Large Report Bypass to CSV File to send large reports to a CSV file instead of displaying them on screen. This setting prevents out-of-memory errors that can occur with large reports.
  • Enter the maximum number of rows allowed to be displayed in a report on screen in Report Limit Before Bypass. Reports that exceed the limit are sent to a CSV file.
  • Select Apply report type security to reports menu only to apply report type security to the reports accessible from the Reports menu only. Users can still run memorized reports.

For example, users who belong to a group without the operations-level security right for daily reports cannot run daily reports. However, if the Apply Report Type Security to Only Reports Menu option is selected, they can still run memorized daily reports.

  • Select Prompt when report limited by preferred locations to display application messages to users when they run memorized reports with locations they do not have access to in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The message states that the report data is filtered to the user's preferred location settings.

The message appears in NextGen® Enterprise PM only when the Limit PM reporting to only preferred locations option is selected. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the message is automatic and cannot be turned off.

Report PagingSelect Use enhanced reporting with paging to activate a new report paging mechanism that improves system performance when generating data-intensive reports in NextGen® Enterprise PM. A new user interface is available and replaces the legacy Report Filter window for reports selected in the Enhanced Reports Selection field.

You can enter the Maximum records to display on screen when an enhanced report is generated.
