Interoperability Rules Engine

The Interoperability Rules Engine enables you to create the following types of rules: Document import rules, which automatically rename and categorize incoming documents. These rules can be based on document properties such as the document format, name, or origin. Direct messaging recipient rules, which supply a list of default recipients for referrals to particular specialties. These rules can be based on the practice, location, or provider on the referral. The list of default recipients appears in NextGen® Enterprise EHR when a provider fills in a referral form. Note: : To use the Rules Engine, you must set the Interoperability Rules Engine access rights to Yes under System Administrator > OPERATIONS > File Maintenance. Configure Practice Preference for Display of Orders

You can configure the default settings for NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine orders. Open File Maintenance. In Master Files, select System > Document Management, and then select Practices.The Practices List window opens. In the Practices list, double-click a practice.The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences.The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preferences List, select Orders Module. In the Orders/Results Linking section, select the default view the orders appear in the linking window. In Order Type and Default Source, select the default source that each order type collects data from. In Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off, select a status that is displayed for each order type when you complete a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order from the linking screen. Select All tab. In the Orders / Results Linking section, select the default order type to display when selecting orders to link to a scanned document. If your practice receives the majority of radiology test results as scanned documents, select Diagnostics/Radiology as the Default View. In the Order Type and Default Source section, select the Default Source for each Order Type. If your practice places the majority of your Radiology orders in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select Adaptive Content Engine (as the source). If Lab Orders are placed in or processed to the Order module, select the Orders Module as the source for that order type

Link Guidelines or Tests to Scanned Document Types

You can link a guideline or test to a scanned document type to satisfy a guideline. When you scan a patient’s document into the document type with a date of service, NextGen® Enterprise EHR recognizes the date as the completed date and automatically satisfies the guideline. NextGen® Enterprise EHR also recalculates and displays a due date of the guideline on the runtime Care Guidelines template. Open File Maintenance. In Document Management Master Files - System, complete the prerequisite configurations. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Practice tab, select the All option. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. In the Manage Groups and Options panel, select the Enable Document Types to satisfy guidelines checkbox.
