Make sure the following fields are completed on the tabs listed. They are required for the ePCS service level:

tab: DEA Number (must be a valid DEA number or blank)

tab: National Provider ID
Note:
The address fields cannot contain a PO Box.
In the

ePCS Service Level for Pharmacies and Providers
To send controlled substances to electronic prescribing networks, both the provider and the pharmacy must meet the criteria set by Surescripts and the DEA. The pharmacies are set up outside of the NextGen applications and downloaded into File Maintenance. You must set up the providers to meet the criteria. To check whether a pharmacy supports ePCS: In File Maintenance, select Master Files > Pharmacies. In the Retail Service Level section, the ePCS check box is selected if the pharmacy supports ePCS. You must set up a provider's retail service level for ePCS so that the provider can electronically prescribe controlled substances. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System, select Providers. The Providers List window opens. Double-click a provider. The Modify Provider Information window opens. In the Modify Provider Information window, select the ePrescribing tab. In the Retail Service Level section, select ePCS. In the Networks section, select open menu, select Retail then Update. The eRx Message Submission window opens. Select OK. Configuring File Maintenance for ePCS
For electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances (ePCS) medications in NextGen® Mobile, you mus configure the following in File Maintenance. In System, you must set up National Provider ID (NPI). In Practice, you must set up DEA number, NADEAN number, and select the Rendering provider at this practice checkbox. In ePrescribing, you must select ePCS in Retail Service Level. When you search for CS medication in Medication Tasks, the option for State DEA and options for Do not allow eRx must appear. In Practice Preferences, you must select the Enable PDMP Gateway checkbox for a medication, and enter the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) credentials. Note: The PDMP Review Required checkbox is selected when a user needs to view and review the report as part of refill or resend. In the Practice tab, you must select a role for the provider from the PDMP Gateway Role list. Note: If the role is unspecified or hidden in the list, the provider cannot submit the PDMP report request.
