To add a new ICD code, select
Open Menu

New
.
Double-click to open the desired ICD the code.

Add/Modify ICD Code Information
window opens.
Complete the fields to add the ICD code. For more information on the fields, refer to
Add ICD Code Information Field Descriptions
.
To hide an existing code, select the
Hide
checkbox.
Do one of the following:
To save changes and add another CPT4 code, select
Next
.
To save changes and close the window, select
OK
.
Note:
The
Next
button does not display when modifying an existing code.

Modify or Search an ICDCM Code
Open File Maintenance. Select System Master Files, and then ICDCM Codes. The ICD-CM Code Search window opens. In the Search Method section, select one of the following search methods: Code or Description. Select the Search for keyphrase anywhere in the item checkbox if you want to see codes that contain a specific word or phrase anywhere in the description. In the Type the first letter(s) of the item you want to locate field, enter what you want to search for. The matching results list as you type. Note: You can enter an asterisk ( *) to list all records. Double-click to open the desired ICD the code. The Add/Modify ICD Code Information window opens. Complete the fields to add the ICD code. For more information on the fields, refer to Add ICD Code Information Field Descriptions. To hide an existing code, select the Hide checkbox. Update Codes from the ICD Master File
Use this procedure to add ICD codes from the master file into the selected library. This process gives you the option of importing either the ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes from the master file into the selected library. You can choose to enter codes by category by using the ICD and Thru ICD codes, the date the codes are to become effective, or the expiration date. In the File Maintenance, open Libraries > Diagnosis Codes > select the desired library. The Diagnosis Code Library Maintenance window opens. In the ICD field, select the Question Mark icon. The ICD-CM Code Search window opens. Search for the ICD code. Right-click on the code and select Update Eff/Exp Dates. The Update Eff/Exp Dates window opens. Complete the fields on the Update Eff/Exp Dates window. For more information, refer to Update Eff/Exp Dates Field Descriptions. Select OK. Add ICD Code Information Field Descriptions
You can use the table below to enter information for the ICD code. Field Description Code For a new code, enter the ICD code. This field is required. For an existing code, this field cannot be modified. Type Select either Diagnostic or Procedural for the ICD code. By default, Diagnostic is selected for imported ICD-CM codes and Procedural is selected for imported ICD-PCS codes. Class Leave blank. This feature is not used at this time. Effective Date / Expiration Date In the Effective Date field, enter the date on which the ICD code goes into effect. This field is required. In the Expiration Date field, enter the date after which the ICD code is no longer valid. This field is required. These dates ensure only valid ICD-CM codes are attached to encounters. When a user is attaching codes to an encounter in NextGen® Enterprise PM, any codes that have effective date ranges that do not include the encounter date of service are hidden and cannot be used. The NextGen application includes pre-installed ICD diagnosis codes. Existing codes can be modified and new codes can be added, if needed.
