You can restrict security at the case level according to Diagnosis Category, Employer, Location, Market, Payer, Case Type, and Case Category. The kinds of items you can restrict come from the following areas: Diagnosis category master file Employer master file Location master file Case Market master list Payer master file Case Type master list Case Category master list If a case contains any of the selected items that are marked for restriction, the entire case becomes unavailable for viewing by users of the group. For example, a list of restricted locations can be maintained for each group. If it is documented that a patient's case is associated with "Community Medical Center" and Community Medical Center is set as restricted in the System Administrator, then the case is marked as private. Restrict User Access at the Case Level

In the NextGen System Administrator, select a group, and then select the Case Management tab. Under Restrictions, select the items you want to restrict, and then select the Modify button next to the item. The Modify Restrictions window opens. If you selected Diagnosis Category, the window also displays the codes and descriptions associated with the diagnosis category. Select the specific items for restriction, and then select OK. Under Case Type Category Restrictions, select the categories you want to restrict, and then select Modify. The Modify Case Type Category Item Restrictions window opens. Select the specific items for restriction or select Check All. Note: These items are from the Case Category master list in File Maintenance. Select OK. Access Patient Information for a Member in a Patient Group

From the Members tab on the Patient Group window, you can access the Modify Patient Information window for a member in the group. Access Patient Groups Accessing Patient Groups. The Patient Group Search window opens. Search for a Patient Group Search for a Patient Group. From the Matching Records section of the Patient Group Search window, select a group and then do one of the following: Select Open. Select Open Menu and select Open. Right-click and select Open. The Patient Group window opens. Select the Members tab. The Member List displays all patients in the group. To access patient information for a member in the group, select to highlight the member or select the check box for the member, and then select Open Menu and select Open Member. Assign Access to Practices for Diagnosis Categories

Even though the system-level master files are enterprise-wide, you might not want all practices to have access to every record. You can limit who has access to a diagnosis category through Practice Access. Each diagnosis category must be assigned to at least one practice. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Diagnosis Categories. The Diagnosis Categories List window opens. Right-click the applicable diagnosis category from the list, and then select Practice Access. The ICD Category Master Access by Practice window opens. If the diagnosis category is new, only the current practice is selected. Select the practices that will have access to this diagnosis category. At least one practice must be selected. Modify Case Management Rights

Access the System Administrator application. Select a group, and then select the Rights tab. Under Modules, select Case Management. You can set the ability for the group to view, add, and modify cases. This right affects both NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM users. If you use NextGen® Enterprise EHR, then under Operations > Case Management, set the following rights: Allow to mark case as private to enables users to protect patient medical information by marking cases as private. View cases marked as private to enables users to view cases that are marked as private. If you use NextGen® Enterprise EHR, then under Operations, set Case Management - Show EHR Problem list. If you select Yes, then when users are selecting a diagnosis for a case in NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM, the Search Patient EHR Problem List check box appears.
