Apply Sliding Fee Adjustments using the Batch Process

You can process Sliding Fee Batch Adjustment in NextGen® Enterprise PM. To filter and select specific encounters, you can use the following fields: Date or Date Range Patient Type Service Location Rendering Physician Financial Class Primary Payer To apply sliding fee adjustments to multiple encounters in batch mode, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select File > Processes > Sliding Fee Batch Adjustments. The Sliding Fee Batch Adjustment window opens. Enter the Search Criteria fields, and then select the encounters. Select Find. Encounters matching the search criteria display in the Encounter List grid. To apply a sliding fee adjustment to the selected encounters, select Batch Adjust. Set Up Sliding Fee Preferences for Cost Estimation

You must complete the following sliding fee practice preferences before the cost estimation. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, open Admin > Preferences > Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preference List, select Sliding Fee. The sliding fee practice preferences appear. Select If amount due is less than minimum value or flat rate, do not slide. Note: Selecting this option prevents positive sliding fee adjustments that increase the amount due up to the defined minimum value or flat rate. This occurs in cases where the balance is less than the minimum value/flat rate. To enable real time sliding during charge posting, select Real- Time Adjustments from the Sliding Fee Adjustment Type list. Select OK. Parent topic: Sliding Fee in Cost Estimation

Location-Based Sliding Fee Scenario

In the Service Location field, you can select a specific practice location. The application applies the sliding fee schedule only for patients or encounters that have the selected service location. Sliding fee adjustment in the Estimate Patient Cost window. The sliding fee is not applied as the location for the encounter is different from the service location set in the sliding fee schedule. Apply Sliding Fee Adjustments to Multiple Encounters

When calculating and applying a Sliding Fee Schedule against charges in batch mode, the patient responsibility must be greater than zero dollars and the COB 1 – 3 must be equal to zero dollars. If payers are attached to the encounters, then the encounters must be billed and all payments from the payers must be posted, leaving only a patient balance on the encounters. From the Main menu select Tasks and then Lookup. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Tasks > Lookup > Encounters. The Encounter Lookup window opens. Enter the appropriate search criteria. Select Find. Select the appropriate patients and encounters to calculate and apply the Sliding Fee Schedule. Right-click to display the short-cut menu, and then select Sliding Fee. You can verify that the Sliding Fee Schedule is calculated and applied against the patient responsibility charges on the Transactions tab in the applicable patient chart. Assign Practice Access to Sliding Fee Schedules

The Sliding Fee Schedules master file is a system-level table. Therefore, all sliding fee schedules can potentially be accessed by any practice in any enterprise. If your enterprise includes multiple practices, you can use the Practice Access option to define which practices have access to each sliding fee schedule. For example, Practice A and Practice B both use Sliding Fee Schedule XYZ, but Practice C does not. Therefore, only Practices A and B should have access to Sliding Fee Schedule XYZ.
