Biometric Authentication Operation

The Biometric Authentication Operations subgroup in the System Administrator application enables users biometric authentication for the following operations: Subgroup Used in Description EHR System Sign-on NextGen® Enterprise EHR Enables users to sign on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR by using biometric authentication Fingerprinting Caching NextGen® Enterprise EHR Enables users to cache their fingerprints on the hard drive of tablet PCs for validation Lock/Unlock/Delete Encounters NextGen® Enterprise EHR Enables users to lock, unlock, and delete encounters by using biometric authentication. Set Up the Provider Sign off Values for Orders and the PAQ

Order (Lab) results can be set up to display in the Provider Approval Queue to require sign off from a provider. Before you can use this function, you must have rights using the System Administrator. Open System Administrator and enter your credentials. Select the practice. Select View > Provider Signoff Setup. The Provider Signoff Setup window opens. Note: If you do not see the Provider Signoff Setup selection, select View, select System Info, and then turn on the Enable Provider Approval Queue check box. It should then show up in the View menu as one of the selections. Select one or more providers in the list, or select the All Providers check box to select providers. Select the Setup tab. Select the All Lab Results check box and select Use Encounter Provider or Use Ordering Provider. Select Save. Set Up Rights for Sign Off on Orders Results

To sign off Orders Results, a setting in NextGen System Administrator has to be turned on. When set to Yes, it gives system users rights to update the NextGen test results. Open System Administrator and enter your credentials. Select the practice. Select to select the user to whom you want to give Orders Results Sign Off rights. Select the Rights tab. Scroll through the list to find the Orders Results Sign Off right. In the Access Rights section in the right pane, check the box by Yes or No. A Yes selection allows a user with this setting to sign off on test and radiology orders. Select Save. Set Up the Disable Lab Signoff Security Universal Preference

A System Administrator setting controls Sign-Off security for signing off on test orders. If you turn it ON (False), then when someone tries to sign-off on a completed test, they are required to enter a password before they can complete the sign-off. Open Sysytem Administrator and enter your credentials. Select View. Select Universal Preferences. Select Orders Group. Select Disable Lab Signoff Security. False means a password is required to complete the sign-off. True means no password is needed to complete the sign-off. Select to select True or False. Select OK. When in the Orders module, if you select Sign-off on the Orders toolbar, the validate window opens. You must enter the information in the fields before the Sign-off can be completed. Sign off Lab and Radiology Test Results

On the Orders Summary tab, select an order with an Assigned status. Note: The system displays the Assigned status in red for orders with test results. The results for the test appear in the Results section of the Orders Summary tab. To sign off the test for the order, right-click the order and select Sign-off from the list. The Validation Sign-off window appears. Enter your User name and Password. Enter any sign-off comments. To sign off all orders with an Assigned order status, select Sign-off All Assigned Orders. Select Sign-off. On the Orders Summary tab, the Sign-off date and Sign-off person displays for the order. The system updates the NextGen Status column to Signed-off.
