Universal Preferences

The System Administrator application allows you to set up Universal Preferences that apply to all users of the NextGen® Enterprise application. The System Administrator application specifies this information directly in the database. Universal Preferences replace the preferences, settings, and paths specified in the NextGen.ini file for NextGen® Enterprise EHR version 3.9.x and lower. If you have been using such NextGen® Enterprise EHR versions, you can import all preferences, settings, and paths that were set in the .ini file into your Universal Preferences. Note: You can set preferences specifically for a single user. Preferences that are set up at the user level override Universal Preferences. See User Preferences for more information. Set Up Universal Preferences

How to use System Administrator to configure preferences that are not specific to a particular practice. To access and set up Universal Preferences: Select View > Universal Preferences. The Preferences window appears. Select the preferences folder you want to configure The window displays the available preferences. In the Preference list, double-click the preference you want to set up. A window displays for the selected preference. Enter the desired value for the preference, and then select OK. There are three types of preferences: Preference Type Description Boolean Select True to enable the preference or select False to disable it. Path Enter the path that applies to the preference. You can enter the path or select the Ellipsis button to navigate for the path. Free Text Enter the alphanumeric value to use for the preference. Note: Some Universal Preferences may include FTP (File Transfer Protocol) settings. Set up FTP settings only if your practice is using FTP to store information.

User Preferences

User Preferences contain the: same list of preferences as Universal Preferences. However, user Preferences override Universal Preferences. For details about each of these preferences, see Universal Preferences. same fields that assign the NextGen® Enterprise PM User Prefs master files to the user that are on the Groups > General tab. Selections in these fields override any selections made previously on the Locations tab, at the group level, or at the user level in the NextGen® Enterprise PM User Preferences. The list on the right side updates to display all available preferences in the folder and any defined values. In the Preference column, double-click the preference you want to set up. Set Up Universal Preferences for NextGen Population Health Single Sign-On

You can set up the Universal Preferences for NextGen Population Health Single Sign-On so that the users can access NextGen Populaton Health website from NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open System Administrator. Select View > Universal Preferences. The NextGen Preferences window opens. From the left pane, select Population Health. The list of preferences appear on the right pane. In the Certificate Path field, select the path where the security certificate for PHS Single Sign-On is stored. In the NextGen Population Health Production URL field, enter the NextGen Population Health URL. In the PHS Gateway field, enter the lambda name which is used to communicate details between NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen Population Health. In the Tenant field, enter the tenant name. Change User Preferences

You can change many of the default user preferences within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Access NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Preferences window. Select the tab that contains the preferences to change. Change the preference in the selected tab. Select Apply. Depending on your selections, a warning message may appear, informing you that the preference changes are not in effect until the next time you open the application. Select OK to close the message. Copy User Preferences

The Copy User Preferences function enables you to copy specific user preferences, tasks, appointments preferences, and PAQ options from one user to another user or to another user group within the same practice.
