ePrescribing Universal Preferences
The following table describes ePrescribing universal preferences:

Default Formulary Provider | Sets up the default provider of formulary list for the medication search.

Electronic Prior Authorization Enable | Enables electronic prior authorization (ePA) for the entire enterprise. Users with the appropriate security rights can initiate ePA in the Medications module and manage the ePA process. By default, the preference is set to False. When the preference is set to False, the Initiate ePA link and Manage ePA button in the Medications module and the View menu > Manage ePA menu item are hidden from users. |
EPCS Authentication Method | Enter the Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances (ePCS) authentication method you want to apply to the enterprise. For successful ePCS authentication, you cannot leave the value blank. For Symantec VIP, leave the default value that is VIP. For IdenTrust Mobile Authentication Service, enter IdenTrustMAS. For Imprivata Confirm ID ™ for EPCS, enter ImprivataConfirmID. |
InfoScan Formulary Installed | Enables the InfoScan formulary that is installed so it can be used by the formulary search in the Medications module.

Mail-Order Formulary Always on Top | Determines whether formularies from Surescripts mail-order pharmacies or InfoScan has top priority when both cover the patient.

Mail-Order Participant ID | Contains the participant ID used for mail-order messages.
|
Mail-Order Password | Contains the password used to authenticate messages from Surescripts mail-order pharmacies.
|
Mail-Order Test Mode | Used by NextGen Healthcare for Surescripts mail-order pharmacy testing.
|
Medco Mail-Order Vendor ID | Contains the vendor ID for Medco, which is the ultimate receiver of Surescripts mail-order pharmacy messages.

NextGen Mail-Order ID | Indicates the ID Associated with all NextGen-generated transactions for Surescripts mail-order pharmacies.

NextGen Participant ID | Contains the participant ID used for NextGen-generated messages.
|
Ohio ePrescribing Validation | If you are a provider in the state of Ohio, you must set this preference to True. |
Payer ID for Mail-Order | Indicates the Surescripts mail-order pharmacy ID that all NextGen transactions are sent to.

Payer Name for Mail-Order | Indicates the name of the system receiving the transaction.
|
Perform Eligibility Upon New Encounter | Enables the automatic eligibility check on creating a new encounter in NextGen® Enterprise. It is used for Surescripts mail-order pharmacies. You can also set this preference at the user level. |
Perform Eligibility Upon Opening Medications | Enables the automatic eligibility check on prescribing medications. You can also set this preference at the user level. If set to False, eligibility check is performed upon entry into Medications module (through the icon). If set to True, eligibility check is performed when users select New or Renew. |
Retail Enrollment Period (years) | Specifies the duration (in years) of the Surescripts retail pharmacy enrollment period. |
Retail Participant ID | The participant ID used for retail accounts. |
Surescripts Formularies Installed | Enables the Surescripts mail-order pharmacy formularies that are installed so they can be used by the formulary search in the Medications module.

Use Internal Pharmacy Processing | This feature is not currently in use. Because this preference is reserved for future use, attempting to use it can cause errors in the system. |
View Formulary Medications | Enables the formulary search. The formulary search appears instead of the default search window in the NextGen® Enterprise Medications module.

Warn Inactive Med on Refill Request | Enables a warning message when set to True. Matched refills are evaluated. If the matched refill request is for a medication that has a stop date (current date of prior - medication is in Inactive category). |
