Sending Payment Balance

When more than one Merchant ID is associated with a practice, the user interface includes a list menu to select the merchant for payment submission. Based on user testing, the label chosen for the list menu indicates Provider, with the list asking Select Provider. For practices with only one Merchant association, the top of the user interface does not include the section or list menu. Pay Bills tab The Total Balance Due reflects the current outstanding patient responsibility from the NextGen® Enterprise PM for a guarantor’s account. Note: The amount does not reflect any potential balance that is not yet applied on an account. The patient balance is sent to a registered portal patient when a change to their balance occurs in NextGen® Enterprise PM. A batch is posted. A new charge is entered. An existing charge is edited. Patient Pay Practice Preferences Descriptions

The following table describes the fields on the Patient Pay Practice Preferences window. Patient Pay Import Description Default Transaction Code You can select the default transaction code to be used during Patient Pay Import. When you select Apply patient discount to patient balance only on the Charge Entry tab on the Practice Preferences window and the Line Item and Discount by dollar amount are selected on the Discount Adjustment Code window. You can calculate patient discount amount to the selected charges on the encounter by dividing the patient amount for each charge by the total of all selected patient amounts, and then multiplying the % of total selected patient amounts by the dollar amount. Patient Validation Using PayNow

Patients must enter their account number and date of birth on the PayNow page for validation. If they do not have their account number, then the patient must enter their first name, last name, date of birth, and zip code. After entering the details on the PayNow page, you can select Continue. Either combination validates the patient and account number with NextGen® Enterprise PM to display the Billing page for the patient. The Billing section opens on the Balances tab which includes the patient’s existing unpaid balance, if applicable, from NextGen® Enterprise PM. If the patient has an existing wallet on file, saved payment methods are listed. If the patient wants to pay the entire amount due using their default payment method, they can select Pay. Pay Now page with the Balance and Pay button shown Patients can submit an alternative payment amount, use a different saved payment method, or add a payment method.
