Sign Documents Electronically

Before you begin You must select the Single click signature option and set up signature preferences in the User Preferences window. After a document is filed, you can add an electronic signature to it. The application uses the name of the logged on user for the signature and the date and time in NextGen® Document Management. Note: After you add a provider signature to a document, the signature cannot be removed. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Search, and then search for the documents or images. The Matching Records grid displays the list of patients who are associated with images that match your search results. Double-click a patient record to open its associated images in the Search Results For: window, and then double-click the image you want to view. The NextGen® Document Management viewer displays the image. To automatically add the signature, select the provider signature icon on the image viewer toolbar. Automatic Generation of Electronic Signatures

NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically appends a provider signature to all documents approved in the PAQ and viewed in the HighEdit or TX Text viewer. Once you sign off on a document in PAQ, the following signature is automatically added to the bottom of the document: "Electronically signed by Provider, Name on MM/DD/YEAR." Sign Documents and Images

You can select a document from the patient's chart to sign. After you sign a document, the document is saved and updated in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Note: You can only sign PDF, .doc, and .docx documents from Docs & Images. Open NextGen® Mobile. Open the Patient Chart view. Select Docs & Images. The Docs & Images section opens. Electronic Signatures on Patient Documents

Using electronic signatures enables you to verify the integrity of a patient document. NextGen® Enterprise EHR provides two types of electronic signatures on patient documents: An electronic signature can be captured for the user, provider, patient, or other entity and then inserted into a printed patient document manually. This feature works with both HighEdit and TX Text documents in either the HighEdit or TX Text viewer. The provider signature is automatically added to patient documents approved in the PAQ. Signing Documents

You can digitally sign documents by capturing handwritten signature using your mobile device and saving it to the documents. When you sign a document, you can designate the type of signature (for example, provider, patient, witness) and the full name of the signee. The signature is added to the document along with the signature type, signee name, timestamp, and patient details. The signed document is saved and sent to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can sign documents from the following views: My Contents You can select a document from a library of documents shared with your content group. After you sign the document, the document is sent to NextGen® Enterprise EHR as an image-only job. Docs & Images You can select a document from the patient's chart to sign. After you sign, the document is saved in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can add multiple signatures to a document. Note: Document signature is available for NextGen® Enterprise EHR clinics only. Signoff Patient Document

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR you can sign off (accept) each patient document. If the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) is enabled, you can sign off the document either in the PAQ or directly in the Documents module. When a document is accepted in one location, it is automatically listed as accepted in the other location. If the PAQ is not enabled, you can only sign off the documents in the Documents module.
