Document Efforts to Quit Using Tobacco

Document Passive Tobacco Smoke Exposure
If the patient engages in vaping, expand the Passive Exposure panel to document the patient’s vaping use. CAUTION: If you document tobacco use history, check the Tobacco Reviewed checkbox under the Past Medical History grid on the Subjective panel. Otherwise, the tobacco documentation will not show on the legal medical record. Parent topic: Document Tobacco Use

Document No Tobacco Use or Unknown Tobacco Use
Expand the Tobacco Use panel. Tobacco Use panel Select an option for non-tobacco use: If the patient has no history of tobacco use, select the No/never option. For non-tobacco users who live with a smoker, use the Passive Exposure panel to capture their exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke. If the patient’s tobacco use is unknown, select the Unknown option. Do one of the following: Select OK. To document additional tobacco history, expand other tobacco template panels as needed. To document another social history, select one from the side navigation.
