Document No Tobacco Use or Unknown Tobacco Use

  1. Expand the Tobacco Use panel.

  2. Select an option for non-tobacco use:
    • If the patient has no history of tobacco use, select the No/never option.

      For non-tobacco users who live with a smoker, use the Passive Exposure panel to capture their exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke.

    • If the patient’s tobacco use is unknown, select the Unknown option.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Select OK.
    • To document additional tobacco history, expand other tobacco template panels as needed.
    • To document another social history, select one from the side navigation.
