Manage Waterproofing Codes for Cast and Splints
You can use the Waterproofing panel of the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template to enable and configure waterproofing codes that are applied to casts. Before you configure casts and splints, determine if waterproofing will be used and, if so, what waterproofing codes will be used. Cast and Splint Configuration
You can configure cast and splint application codes and supply codes used throughout the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite templates from the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template. You can also enable waterproofing and tie it to specific casts, as well as set a default for the number of rolls used on a specific cast on the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template. Note: The Cast & Splint Configuration template comes pre-loaded with the existing cast and splint codes. These codes need to be built in the SIM Library for the practice to be able to bill for these items. This template has Cast & Splint and Waterproofing panels. Add a Cast or Splint Code
The cast and splint code configuration grid comes pre-loaded with some fiberglass cast and splint codes. You can also add additional codes. On the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template, expand the Cast & Splint panel. Cast and Splint panel on the Cast and Splint Configuration template In the corresponding fields below the grid, select the following: Splint or cast type Intended body part for the selected splint or cast Application code Supply code The description for selected application code appears in the field below Item column of the grid. You can edit the description, if required. For Side, select L/R or Finger. The L/R option builds that item for the left and right sides. The Finger option builds that item for all 10 fingers. Modifiers built in the File Maintenance application are pulled into Finalize Visit template automatically based on the side/finger selected. Click Add - Update. Add Waterproofing to a Cast or Splint
You can add waterproofing to a cast or splint, using the fields below the WP Tape, # Rolls, and WP Liner columns of the grid. Note: If waterproofing is not enabled, these fields will be grayed out on the configuration template (and on the medical record template). To enable waterproofing, open the Waterproofing panel and select the Enable cast waterproofing check box. There must also be entries in the Waterproofing grid. On the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template, expand the Cast & Splint panel. Cast and Splint panel on the Cast and Splint Configuration template From the grid, select the desired splint or cast. The values for the selected record appear in the corresponding fields below the grid. Select the waterproofing codes in the WP Tape and WP Liner fields. Enter in a default number of rolls for selected WP Tape. This number fills the field on the medical record template when waterproofing is selected. Change Code Display Order
The cast and splint grid is sorted by type, body part, and then description. You can change the order in which you want the items to display. On the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template, expand the Cast & Splint panel. Select the desired cast or splint from the grid. Use the up and down arrows to the right of the grid to move the item to the desired position. Note: Once you have changed the order, any newly added casts/splints appear at the bottom and must be manually moved to desired position. Parent topic: Manage Cast and Splint Codes

Remove Codes from a Cast or Splint
You can remove the codes from cast or splint that is not used or billed out by your practice. On the Cast & Splint Configuration practice template, expand the Cast & Splint panel. Select the desired cast or splint in the grid. The selected item displays a check mark in the first column. Click Delete. Parent topic: Manage Cast and Splint Codes
