View Care Guidelines

You can view a quick list of the patient's Care Guidelines for due and overdue items. Additionally, you can open the Care Guidelines module to manage Health Maintenance and Disease Management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. For more information on Care Guidelines, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Care Guidelines User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. To view a quick list of the patient's Care Guidelines, on the Quick Buttons panel, hover over Care Guidelines Items Due.The Care Guidelines Items Due table appears displaying the last calculated date and a list of recently ordered Care Guidelines items for the patient that are due and overdue. Enable Care Guidelines

Guidelines Tab

The Guidelines tab on the Add/Edit Appointment window displays information related to orderable protocols for the patient that are due within a specified number of days. The information pulls from the Care Guidelines in the patient’s clinical chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and can be useful when scheduling an appointment for a patient that is due to have a specific test/procedure performed. The Due Date displays for each test as well as the Last Date the test was performed. Tests that are past due display in red text with an exclamation icon. Note: The Guidelines tab displays only if the Show Guidelines due in n days option has been enabled in Practice Preferences > Appt Scheduling. Parent topic: Appointment Information

Document Details of Referrals

You can document the details of referrals to order them for a patient. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the Referrals panel. Optional: To indicate that the referral is internal, select Internal referral. Select the date of injury and insurance name. Note: By default, the encounter date appears in Date. You can change the date, if needed. The policy number is automatically filled based on the selected insurance name. In the To section, do one of the following to select the recipient: To add a referral for a specialty or provider, select Specialty/specialist name/site, and then select the specialty, provider name, and reason. To add a referral for therapy, select Therapies/Rehabilitation, and then select the therapy type and reason. Select the services requested and time frame for referral. Using Templates

NextGen® Enterprise EHR uses templates to record and store patient demographic and medical information electronically. Templates provide a simple way to enter medical information and compile patient records. All of the data entered into a template can later be used for statistical reports, document generation, and further review of the patient's information. NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers a set of predefined templates known as the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine and enables the creation of user-defined templates by system administrators. Based on the setup of a specific template or trigger, some workflows may follow those in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR modules (for example, Medications, Procedures, Problems), and some may be specific to the template.
