Set Up the Practice as an ASC in the Practice System Master File

The Ophthalmology ASC practice is required to be set up in the Practices system master file. In File Maintenance, click Practices under Master Files - System to open the Practices List window. Click the Menu icon below the Locations List Search field and select New ... to open the Add Practice Information tabs. practices list window Select the Practice Defaults tab and enter name, address, and practice licensing information for the practice. Add locations: Click the yellow Folder button to open a Locations tabs. add practice information template Select a location by highlighting a location in the Available list on the left and clicking the right arrow button to move the location to the Included list on the right side. locations window Click OK. Setup for Ophthalmology ASC in File Maintenance

For ASC billing, billing is separated into a facility fee and a professional fee. The facility fee is billed through the ASC, which is set up both as a practice and as a provider. The professional fee for the surgery/procedure is billed through the clinical practice of the surgeon/provider. The facility (ASC) is set up and selected as the practice and the rendering provider, while the provider performing the surgery is selected as the referring provider. Configuring the ASC as both a practice and a rendering provider is done in File Maintenance. CAUTION: It recommended that practices consult their legal advisers, and state and other regulators for setup guidance to determine whether a separate practice should be set up for the ASC or if the ASC can be included as an additional location within the provider practice. Set Up a Default Location for Group Provider Numbers

In File Maintenance, under Master Files, select Practice > Groups. The Groups List window opens. Double-click a group.The Group Information window opens. From the Service Location list, select <Default>. Select one of the following options based on the following information: To set up the group on the default payer, double-click on the Default row listed under the Payer Name column. Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Provider tab. Select the open menu , and select New. The Add Patient Provider window appears. Select a user-defined provider type from Preference Name. This field is required. Note: Your system administrator manages providers from Practice Preferences, Providers. Select a Provider. Providers Master File

In the Providers master file, you can set up providers who offer a service or refer a patient for a service. You can set the access right for the Provider master file to read-only for user groups. The setting prevents the user group from modifying the master file. On the Providers List window, you can see the Rendering, Providers and National Provider ID columns. Rendering providers are indicated by a checkmark in the Rendering column.
