Configuring Preferred Templates

Templates that a user prefers to use and wants to access quickly can be added to a preferred templates list for the user. When you have created a list of preferred templates, those templates display in the Template Launcher Select Template window when you select the option to Show Preferred. Setting a default template and creating a preferred template list helps users to quickly navigate to their preferred starting point within the system. Both features are configured in User Preferences. Default template- If you work with the same specialty each time you log into the system, you can configure your system to open that specialty's Home Page template automatically whenever you open a patient chart and create a new encounter. Preferred template list- You can create a list of preferred templates that you often use so that you do not have to search through the entire list of templates in the system when you want to open one of them using Template Launcher. A list of preferred templates is particularly helpful to users who work with more than one specialty. Configure a Default Medical Records Template

Open the Preferences window to the Templates tab. From the Tools menu, select the Preferences submenu and then click the Templates tab. Click the Template Type field and select Medical Records from the list. Note: To set a default Demographic template, select Demographic. Click the Default Template field, and select the template from the list of templates available in the system. Select the Open from Work Flow Appts check box to open this template by default from the Inbox Appointments section. Click Apply. Click OK to close Preferences. Add a Template to the Preferred Templates List

To make the templates you most frequently use easier to access, you can select a list of preferred templates to display. You must set up separate preferred lists for Medical Records, Demographics, Group, System, Practice, and Case templates. Select the template type from the Template Type list. Medical Records is the default template type in the Template Type list. The available templates for that template type display in the Available Templates pane. Do one of the following: For each template to add as a preferred template, select the template, and select the single-arrow button to add it to the Preferred Templates pane. Set Up Template Preferences

You can configure the default and preferred templates to automatically open the templates for an encounter. You can also configure the workflow after opening an encounter from the Workflow Appointment list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Set up a Template as Favorite

In User Settings, you can set up medical records and demographic templates as favorite that appear in the Chart list, which you can access directly from NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Open NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Select the settings icon. The Settings window opens. On User Settings, select Templates and then do one of the following: To open medical record templates, select Medical Records. To select demographic templates, select Demographics. The Available Templates section lists the templates as per the selected template type. From the Available Templates list, select a template to set as favorite and select Add. Note: You can configure a maximum of ten favorite templates. The selected template appears in the Favorite Templates list.
