The Provider Specialty grid on the Eye Configuration practice template displays details for providers that have been set up with special configurations and permissions specific to NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite including: Assign providers to different sub-specialties of Ophthalmology. Setting the sub-specialty for Ophthalmology providers causes template navigation to automatically be configured for their sub-specialty when they open the Ophthalmology templates. This setting is optional for generalists. Give privileges to individual providers to be able to copy forward portions of their last exams to a new encounter. By default, the Copy last exam forward option is not selected. Allow the Provider HPI Details section of the Ophthalmology Generic HPI to be editable by the technician or scribe for an individual provider. Enter Assessments for Today's Visit

Assessments can be added to Today's Assessments in several ways, including by selecting from the patient's clinical problems or diagnosis history, the provider's list of favorite assessments, the Common Assessments template, or the diagnosis search window. New assessments can be added to various lists for the patient or the provider's My Favorites list, and they can be sorted to display in a preferred order. If a technician is acting as a scribe for the provider, select a name from the Scribe field. Review Today's Concern/Reason For Visit. Configuration of Default Visit Specialty

The Default Visit Specialty panel on the Framework Content system template is one of three configurable options that is used to determine the default visit specialty. Default Visit Specialty Each rendering provider that you set up in File Maintenance appears in the Default Visit Specialty grid. The specialty (Specialty Code 1) mapped to the rendering provider in File Maintenance is the default specialty for the provider on the application level. The mapped specialty appears in the Default Visit Specialty grid on the Framework Content system template alongside the rendering provider name. Note: Any changes made to the provider's specialty on the Framework Content system template impact the default visit specialty for the provider in runtime.
