View the Current Medications for a Patient

You can view the medications of a patient in the Medications module. The controlled substances medication names appear in red color. In NextGen® Mobile, select a patient.The Patient Chart view opens. If the medications are prescribed to the patient, the Medications module displays a value in parenthesis. The value indicates the number of active medications prescribed. If no value is displayed, the patient does not have active medications. The patient can have inactive or pending medications. Select the Medications section.The list of active patient medications appears. Medication section For properly configured NextGen Healthcare clinics, the patient’s medication formulary eligibility status appears in Rx Eligibility. To view the patient’s inactive or pending medications, select Active and select Inactive or Pending in the displayed list. Renew Medications

In NextGen® Mobile, you can renew medications in the Patient Chart view. When renewing a medication, if your encounter is not the latest one, a message appears prompting you to associate the medication to the encounter existing for the current date. If an encounter does not exist for the current date, a message appears prompting you to create an encounter for the current date and associate the medication to the new encounter. Note: You can renew a Controlled Substances (CS) medication only if you have set up the necessary ePCS permissions. If you have the ePCS permissions but the provider relationship is not set as self in System Administrator, you can renew and save the CS medication but cannot send that medication for prescription. Deny a Refill

Refill requests appear on your Refills view. In NextGen® Mobile, open the Hub module. Select Refill Requests. The Refills view appears listing the refill requests. By default, the list is ordered from oldest to newest with the oldest on top of the list. In the Refills view, locate the patient and medication that you plan to deny. The selected entry must be marked with Matched Refill. Select the patient entry. The Refill Request view opens. Refill Request view Select Deny. The Deny message appears. To add a non-clinical note to the pharmacy, select in the Add note to pharmacy and enter a text note in the field. Select the Reason for denying field and select a denial reason. If none of the reasons apply, you can select Custom Denial Reason and select a custom denial reason in the eRx Custom Denial Reason field. Refill Medications

In NextGen® Mobile, the refill requests appear on the Refills view. You cannot submit refills for controlled substances medications with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) class codes as C1 and C2. Whereas C3, C4, and C5 medications can be submitted for up to five refills per transaction. Note: In NextGen® Mobile, the refills for C1 and C2 medications appear as none and the refills for C3, C4, and C5 medications are limited to five. In NextGen® Mobile, open the Hub module. Select Refill Requests.The Refills view opens listing the refill requests. Refills details view By default, the list displays the oldest to newest requests with the oldest on top of the list. Select Oldest to reverse the order. Note: The refill requests also appear as tasks in the Hub view. You can select a particular task to open the Refill Request view. In the Refills view, locate the patient and medication that you plan to refill. The selected entry must be marked with Matched Refill. Select the patient entry.T

Approve an eRx Refill Request from the Manage Refills Window

You can approve a new eRx refill request using the manage refills window in the Medications module and acknowledge drug interactions. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. To view the Medications module for the patient, select Medications from the Quick Buttons panel. If NextGen® Enterprise EHR detects a new eRx refill request for the patient, the Manage Refills window opens, where you can view the refill requests details of the patient. To view the details of the refill request, select the refill request and select Details. The Refill Response Details window opens. To approve the refill request, do one of the following: Select Approve Refill and select the number of refills to approve for the patient. Approve Refill button Right-click the refill request, select Approve Refill, and then select the number of refills to approve for the patient.
