Set up Modify Patient Trigger

The Modify Patient action triggers the display of the Update Patient Information window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at run time. From the Modify Patient Information window, you can edit patient demographics and other information. The History tab of the window lists the changes you make. If you change the patient's name, the new name appears on the Title bar of the NextGen® Enterprise EHR main window. The Title bar also displays changes to the patient's date of birth, medical record number, gender, and Social Security number if practice preferences are set to display these fields. A Modify Patient option is also available on the File menu in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR application. Set up View Category Trigger

The View Category action automatically enables View Category mode in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the View Category action. The Select Category window opens. Select an existing category. To save the information and close the window, select OK. Opening External Applications

NextGen Healthcare has a number of vendors that have integrated their applications with the NextGen® Enterprise platform. The vendor applications use NextGen® Enterprise API solutions to interact with your electronic health records data. Many of these applications are listed on NextGen API Marketplace, which includes application information and links to the respective vendor websites. Some of these vendor applications are designed to be easily opened from NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM. These external applications run code from other vendors. Configure External Applications

System Administrator provides the EXTERNAL APPLICATION SETUP window to configure each external application that users can open from NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM. For NextGen® Enterprise EHR, this configuration applies to both the External Applications button and the Launch External Application template trigger. In System Administrator, select View > External Application Setup. The EXTERNAL APPLICATION SETUP window opens. The list of licensed applications appears in the left pane. EXTERNAL APPLICATION SETUP Window If the EXTERNAL APPLICATION SETUP window does not open, a message may appear indicating the following. Your user account does not have permission to access the EXTERNAL APPLICATION SETUP window. In this case, enable the OPERATIONS > Administration > External Application Setup security right for your user group. The API is not available. Open External Applications from NextGen® Enterprise EHR

Before you begin Ensure that you do the required configuration for each external application that can be launched from NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM. Without required user privilege, the External Applications icon does not appear on Patient Information Card (PIC). For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. NextGen® Enterprise EHR allows you to launch external applications from third-party vendors using the External Applications icon on the Patient Information Card. Note: You can access only the applications that are licensed and configured for use in your practice. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window.
