Toolbar Button	Function
Pop-up Template Position	Enables you to position Popup templates on the screen.
Alignment	Aligns the selected fields right, left, top, or bottom.
Center	Centers the selected fields vertically or horizontally.
Spacing	Provides the selected fields with even spacing either vertically or horizontally.
Make Same	Makes the selected fields the same width, height, or size.
Swap Panels	Swaps the position of two selected collapsible panels. The fields on each panel are retained when the panel is switched. CAUTION: In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, for the current logged-on user, the collapsible panels appear in the order the template was initially saved in Template Editor. If panels are swapped again, the latest saved panel order appears only if: The current user right-clicks the panel and selects Panel Defaults. Another user logs on and opens the template for the first time.

Template Types

NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers the following template groups: Template Group Description Demographics Template Demographics Popup Demographics Extended Popup Demographics Extended Popup View Demographics templates store a patient's demographic information, such as the patient's address, employer, primary and referring providers, emergency contact, and insurance information. You can customize Demographic templates to include any patient-related information needed at your facility. Note: You can set an Enterprise Preference to enable practices to edit demographic extended popup data from other practices within the enterprise. The Edit demographic ext data across enterprise preference is set in File Maintenance. Layout Menu

Command Function Align Aligns the selected fields to the left, right, top, or bottom. Center in Screen Center aligns the selected fields horizontally and vertically. Make Same Size Makes the selected fields the same width, height, or both. Popup Template Position Enables you to set up the position for a Popup template. Template Properties

You can set up the following template properties: The Fields Tab Order tab enables you to set up the order for tabbing through template fields. Unless you enter a specific order, Template Editor default tab order to the sequence in which the fields were created. The Font and Color tab enables you to set the Template font, font style, size, default text color for all newly created labels on the template, and template background color. The Background Image tab enables you to display a background image on a template in high resolution (more than 256 colors) or in low resolution (256 colors). The Preferences tab enables you to set up preferences for the Use Alias template, Sidebar template, Popup template toolbars, Template size, and Collapsible panels on your templates. The Comments tab enables you to add comments to a template snippet or sub template. Status Bar

The Status bar displays the following: Status bar Function Selected Field Displays the currently selected template field. AutoSave Status Indicates whether the AutoSave option is turned on or off. User/Admin Mode Displays if Template Editor is in User or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Admin Mode. The UpdateTemplateHashKeys program is used to set the database to User Mode. NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Admin Mode is available only after NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine lockdown. Note: Admin Mode is not available to users. Template Type Shows whether the currently open template is a user-defined (User) or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine (available only after NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine lockdown). Data Indicates amount of data entered into the template. Fields Indicates number of fields used in the template. Position Indicates vertical and horizontal position of the selected field. Insert a Collapsible Panel Field

You can insert expandable/collapsible panels to show/hide a larger amount of content on a single template. You can include a background image on the panel. After you create a collapsible panel, you can add other fields and triggers to it. You can also swap the position of two selected collapsible panels. Note: At run time, the states of all collapsible panels on a template are recorded in the user_template_panel_prefs.panels_open database field after the template is closed. This database field contains a 1 if the corresponding panel is open, and a 0 if the corresponding panel is closed. The order that this field displays the state of each collapsible panel is synced with the order that the panels are displayed in the user_template_panel_prefs.panels database field. The state of the collapsible panels is recorded for each template that is closed by the user and each recording is only associated with the user who is currently logged on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Template Editor Main Window Components

The Template Editor main window opens when you launch the application. It contains the following elements: The Title bar displays the template name (template type) and contains controls for minimizing, maximizing, and closing the window. The Menu bar contains the File, Edit, View, Layout, Tools, and Help menus. Main toolbar Format toolbar Fields toolbar Quick Action toolbar The template design area is where you view, create, or edit a template. The template field list displays the name of each field on the currently open template. You can select a field in this pane to locate it in the design area. Layout toolbar Status bar You can drag any of the toolbars to another position at the top of the window or to the design area. If you move a toolbar to the design area, it becomes a detachable window that you can position vertically or horizontally.
