Increase the Length of a Text Field

Select a Text-type field that you want to increase the length for. The Data Entry Properties window opens. Enter or select the new length of the field in the Length box. Enter the number of characters you want to set as a maximum. The maximum length for a field (excluding the memo-type) is 1000 characters. Note: The maximum data size for a template is 7940 characters. The total data size is the sum of the length of all data entry fields. A message box appears when you try to add or modify fields and you have reached the maximum data size. To save your work and exit, select OK. Note: You cannot decrease the length of a field. After you have set up template properties and grid settings, you can start creating functionality on a template by adding template fields. The maximum data size for a template is 7940 characters, and the maximum number of fields is 1015. The total data size is the sum of the length of all data entry fields including edit fields, radio button fields, and check box fields. A message box appears when you try to add or modify fields when you have reached the maximum data size. The data assigned to a field cannot exceed the length of the field. To display a warning message when the assigned value exceeds the field length, you must set the Universal Preference for Warn On Assign Field Length Exceeded to True in System Administrator. Adjust Field Properties and Layout

After you have inserted a field on your template, you can view and update its properties. You can also visualize field properties and resize, move, and align fields. Do one of the following: To display the shortcut menu, right-click the field, and then select Properties. From the Template Editor Menu bar, select View, and then select Properties. The Properties window for that field appears. To update properties, see the topic on inserting that field type and to the topics on Set General Properties for Multiple Fields and Field Font and Color Properties. When you are logged in as KBM admin in Template Editor, you can modify the properties of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. In Template Editor, drag Edit from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it.The Insert Data Entry window opens. In Table, the template name appears if the table is saved. Do one of the following: To create fields that are native to the table associated with this template, leave Table blank. To share fields with another template, select that template from Table To create a local template field, select local from Table. In Field, do one of the following: To create a new field, enter the name in Field. You can use up to 30 alphanumeric characters. Do not begin the name with a number or underscore or include any spaces. To share a field from another template, select that template from Table and then from Field, select the field you want to use.
