ASSIGN Function

Use: Assigns the source value to a list of destination parameters (fields and/or variables). Syntax: {ASSIGN( «source» , «dest1», «dest2»,,,, )} Arguments: {source} Source value«dest1» Field or variable to be assigned the source value«dest2»,,,, (to «destn») Each additional field or variable to be assigned the source value Returns: The source value Example: Source value = ""dest1 = template_name_.field1dest2 = template_name_.field 2dest3 = @variable1{ASSIGN( "" , template_name_.field1 , template_name_.field2 , @variable1)} Result: An empty value is assigned to the destination fields and variable. Focus Function

The @Focus function enables you to assign a value to or from the last edited field on a template to have focus. This function is typically used on an Assign Field Value trigger on a button or active image field. For example, this function can be used with a Vital Signs number pad that assigns values to height, weight, and temperature. You can select this function in the following ways: You can select @Focus from the Assign To field list on the Assign Field Value trigger window. You can select @Focus Last Edit Field with Focus in the Functions list to include @Focus in the value calculation for an Assign Field Value trigger, the condition for any trigger, or the function body for a macro function. CAUTION: You cannot select or assign data from a Memo-type data entry field if it was the last field to have focus. If you set up a @Focus function, and the Memo field was the last edited field, the focus does not go to that field. Parent topic: Functions

Change a Trigger

You can edit the field, event, action, or condition for an existing trigger. The edit function also provides a quick way for you to add a trigger based on an existing, simple trigger. This capability cannot be used for certain triggers that are tied to cross-reference tables (for example, the Assign Field Value trigger tied to the trig_mf_xref table). To open the Triggers window, do one of the following: Right-click anywhere on the template, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. On the Main toolbar, select Triggers. From the View menu, select Triggers. Select a specific field within the template. Select Triggers, select View > Triggers, or right-click the selected field, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Note: The Copy and Paste buttons appear on the Triggers window only when you select a specific field on the template. In the Triggers window, select the trigger you want to change. View Macro Functions

You can view existing macro functions and update or delete them as required. You can generate a list of current macro functionsto a specified file location. Do one of the following: Select the Macro Function button on the Main toolbar. In the Trigger Info or Assign Field Values window, right-click a macro function in the Macro Functions list, and then select Show Functions Library. Right-click the body of a template, and then select Macro Functions from the shortcut menu. The Macro Function Library window opens. The Library window lists existing macro function information in four columns: Function name, Macro content, Parameter List, and Comment, if entered. To sort the list by a particular column in ascending or descending order, select the column header. To reverse the order, select the column header again. To display macro function details, select the macro function in the Library window. Information for the selected macro function populates the Function, Name, and Comments boxes an

Update a Macro Function

On the Macro Function Library window, select the macro function you want to update in the Library window. Information for the selected macro function fills the Function, Name, and Comments boxes and the Function Body window. Change the name, comments, expression, and parameters, as needed, following the instructions in Add a Macro Function. To save the changes, select Update to the right of the Library window. Search Trigger Values

You can search for specified values in conditions and parameters for selected types of triggers in the currently open template. The search values can include fields, variables, functions, characters, or other values. You can then select a trigger from the search results for editing. Do one of the following: To automatically populate the search value with a specific template field, either: Right-click the field, and then select Find in Triggers from the menu. Select the field, and then select Find in triggers on the Main toolbar. To manually enter the search value, select Find in Triggers on the Triggers window. The Find In Triggers window opens. If applicable, the search value box displays the selected field. The window contains check boxes for commonly used triggers and for conditions. The Conditions and Assign Field Value check boxes are selected by default. If the search value is blank or you want to change it, enter the value in the input box.
