SPLIT Function

Use: Assigns values to an Array variable from a delimited character string. Syntax: {SPLIT( «delimiter» , «string» )} Arguments: «delimiter» Character that separates the values in a supplied character string (for example, comma or vertical line)«string» Character string that contains the delimiter Returns: Values for an Array variable Example: Field = txt_field with contents: red|yellow|blue|orange|green|purpleArray = @colors{SPLIT( |, {template_name_.txt_field} )}Array: Assign Field Value trigger: Result: The function assigns the delimited values to the @colors Array variable. Focus Function

The @Focus function enables you to assign a value to or from the last edited field on a template to have focus. This function is typically used on an Assign Field Value trigger on a button or active image field. For example, this function can be used with a Vital Signs number pad that assigns values to height, weight, and temperature. You can select this function in the following ways: You can select @Focus from the Assign To field list on the Assign Field Value trigger window. You can select @Focus Last Edit Field with Focus in the Functions list to include @Focus in the value calculation for an Assign Field Value trigger, the condition for any trigger, or the function body for a macro function. CAUTION: You cannot select or assign data from a Memo-type data entry field if it was the last field to have focus. If you set up a @Focus function, and the Memo field was the last edited field, the focus does not go to that field. Parent topic: Functions

ORNOTEQUAL Function

Use: Compares multiple fields or variables to a specified value to determine if any of their values are not equal. This function uses OR logic where any value being compared may not equal the source value in order to return an equal value for the group. You can compare values with or without regard to case (case sensitive or case insensitive). For example, in a case-insensitive comparison, abc is the same as ABC or aBc. Note: The OREQUAL function compares multiple fields or variables to a specified field or variable to determine if any are equal. Syntax: {ORNOTEQUAL( «no case» , «compare_to» , «value1» , «value2»,,,, )} Arguments: «no case» 1 = case insensitive 0 = case sensitive«compare_to» Field to compare other values to«value1» Field to be compared You can type "PICK: to display the Picklist window for selecting a picklist to determine if any of its values is not equal to the source value. «value2»,,,, (to «valuen») Each additional field to be compared Returns: 1 = Not equal 0 = Eq

NOTEQUAL Function

Use: Compares multiple fields or variables to a specified value to determine if all of their values are not equal. This function uses AND logic where each value being compared must not equal the source value in order to return a no equal value for the group. You can compare values with or without regard to case (case sensitive or case insensitive). For example, in a case-insensitive comparison, abc is the same as ABC or aBc. The @This function enables you to assign a value to or from the currently selected field. You can select this function in the following ways: You can select @This from the Assign To field list on the Assign Field Value trigger window. ISEMPTY String Function

Use: Checks if a string in a data entry or note field is empty Syntax: {ISEMPTY( «string» )} {ISEMPTY( «string» )}=0 (can also be used to check for field that contains values; do not use =1) Arguments: «string» Character string to be evaluated Returns: 1 = True (empty) 0 = False (not empty) Example: {template_name_.memo_field} = contains text{ISEMPTY( template_name_.memo_field) }= 0 -Or- {ISEMPTY( template_name_.memo_field) } Result: 0 Example: {template_name_.note_field} = blank{ISEMPTY( template_name_.note_field) } Result: 1 Example: {template_name_.text_field} = contains text{ISEMPTY( template_name_.note_field) } Result: 0 Parent topic: Functions

Arguments:	`{source} Source value «dest1» Field or variable to be assigned the source value «dest2»,,,, (to «destn») Each additional field or variable to be assigned the source value`
Returns:	The source value
Example:	`Source value = "" dest1 = template_name_.field1 dest2 = template_name_.field 2 dest3 = @variable1 {ASSIGN( "" , template_name_.field1 , template_name_.field2 , @variable1)}` Result: An empty value is assigned to the destination fields and variable.
