Change a Trigger

You can edit the field, event, action, or condition for an existing trigger. The edit function also provides a quick way for you to add a trigger based on an existing, simple trigger. This capability cannot be used for certain triggers that are tied to cross-reference tables (for example, the Assign Field Value trigger tied to the trig_mf_xref table). To open the Triggers window, do one of the following: Right-click anywhere on the template, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. On the Main toolbar, select Triggers. From the View menu, select Triggers. Select a specific field within the template. Select Triggers, select View > Triggers, or right-click the selected field, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Note: The Copy and Paste buttons appear on the Triggers window only when you select a specific field on the template. In the Triggers window, select the trigger you want to change. Information entered for the selected trigger appear in the Trigger, Condition,

Manage Trigger Order

You can change the order of multiple, adjacent triggers listed in the Triggers window for the same field and event type. In the example below, the group of three Click event triggers can be reordered, and the group of two Populate event triggers can be reordered. The re-ordering can be done only within each group separately. The order of the Entry event cannot be changed. To be able to re-order triggers, you must select a specific template field to access the Triggers window. You cannot re-order triggers for all template fields at one time. If you access the Triggers window from the template without selecting a field, you cannot move any of the triggers. To display the Triggers window, right-click the field, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Select the trigger you want to move. To move the trigger up one line, select Move Up. To move the trigger down one line, select Move Down. Only one of these buttons may be available depending on the position of the trigger in the lis

Search Trigger Values

You can search for specified values in conditions and parameters for selected types of triggers in the currently open template. The search values can include fields, variables, functions, characters, or other values. You can then select a trigger from the search results for editing. Do one of the following: To automatically populate the search value with a specific template field, either: Right-click the field, and then select Find in Triggers from the menu. Select the field, and then select Find in triggers on the Main toolbar. To manually enter the search value, select Find in Triggers on the Triggers window. The Find In Triggers window opens. If applicable, the search value box displays the selected field. The window contains check boxes for commonly used triggers and for conditions. The Conditions and Assign Field Value check boxes are selected by default. If the search value is blank or you want to change it, enter the value in the input box. Filter a Trigger

You can filter the added triggers in the Triggers window based on the enable or disable triggers, fields, events, and actions. All is an option for each filter. Right-click the template field or the template, and then select Triggers. The list of triggers appears in the grid. The total number of triggers appears in the triggers grid. You can filter the triggers based on fields, events, and actions. The filtered trigger appears in the grid. You can filter the trigger with the following options: All - Displays all the enabled and disabled triggers. Enable - Displays only the Enabled triggers. Disable - Displays only the Disabled triggers. All Fields - Displays all the fields. You can filter the required field in the grid by selecting the field from the Field list. All Events - Displays all the events. You can further filter the grid by selecting the required event from the Event list. All Actions - Displays all the actions. You can further filter the grid by selecting the required action

Create Additional Triggers for the Same Field

You can quickly add certain triggers based on existing triggers to the same field and then edit them. This functionality can save time when you have to make changes to a trigger with multiple mappings, such as the Upload Extended Data trigger. Right-click the template field that you want to copy triggers from, and select Triggers from the shortcut menu. The Triggers window opens. Select the trigger you want to copy. Information entered for the selected trigger, appears in the Trigger, Condition, Parameter, and Comment boxes. Select Copy. Select Paste. The Paste Triggers window opens. The Find and Replace With boxes both contain the name of the same field. To copy the Condition and/or Parameters for the field triggers, select the applicable check box. Condition is selected by default. To copy disabled triggers, select the Copy Disabled check box. This option is checked by default. Select OK. The selected triggers are copied. Copy a Field with Triggers

You can copy only active text, checkbox, data entry (edit), or radio button fields. The fields can be native to the template or shared from another template. You can copy existing local fields the same way you do other fields. For information on copying and pasting triggers only, see Copy a Trigger. For another method of copying a field with triggers, see Copy Triggers from the Triggers window. To create a local field from a copied field, see Copy a Field as a Local Field. Do one of the following: To display copy options, right-click the field, and then select Copy Field with Triggers. In the template, right-click where you want to place the copied field, and then select Paste Field. Select the field, and select CTRL+C. In the template, select where you want to place the copied field, and then select CTRL+V. The window for inserting the selected field type appears.
