Template Properties

You can set up the following template properties: The Fields Tab Order tab enables you to set up the order for tabbing through template fields. Unless you enter a specific order, Template Editor default tab order to the sequence in which the fields were created. The Font and Color tab enables you to set the Template font, font style, size, default text color for all newly created labels on the template, and template background color. The Background Image tab enables you to display a background image on a template in high resolution (more than 256 colors) or in low resolution (256 colors) and set the background image preference in horizontal and vertical position. The Preferences tab enables you to set up preferences for the Use Alias template, Sidebar template, Popup template toolbars, Template size, and Collapsible panels on your templates. You can set up your own user preferences. The General tab enables you to set preferences for template background color, auto save, messages for overlapping active images, and data grid colors. The Check Box tab enables you to set up default text and numeric values to be used for check boxes. The Edit Box tab contains a setting to enable a 3D Look for the border of all edit fields. The 3D Look outlines all data fields, except for read-only fields, in a three-dimensional border instead of a two-dimensional border. The Active Text tab enables you to set up the default colors that indicate whether Active Text was selected or unselected. Attributes

Attributes allow you to define any number of attributes for a template field. The Template Editor provides the ability to set the values for each and every attribute for each template field. You can set up the template field attributes from the Tools menu. There are three types of attributes you can set up such as Boolean, List, and Whole Number. The added attribute values are stored in a template fields such as Data Entry, Check Box, and Radio Button. Attribute values set for one field reflects in other fields if it has same name. For example, attribute values set for one radio button field reflects for other radio button fields with the same name. You must set rights permissions under Rights > Operations > Template Editor – Allow Data Change > Template Editor – Attribute Editing in System Administrator. Main Toolbar

The following table describes the buttons on the Main toolbar from left to right: Toolbar Button Function Open Displays the Open window, enabling you to select and open a template or template snippet. Save Saves the current template. Delete Field Deletes the selected fields. You must confirm the deletion. Snippets & Sub Templates Turns the Snippets and Sub Templates pane on/off on the left side of the Template Editor main window. Save as User Workspace Saves fields and triggers to a personal user workspace. Expression Builder Bar Enables you to select a field on the template and build expression. Paste User Workspace Enables you to paste a user workspace containing fields and triggers to the current template or other opened templates within Template Editor. Undo Enables you to undo the last preceding action, up to 11 times. You can undo/redo the following types of actions: moving, resizing, deleting, inserting, or pasting fields; resizing data sheet columns or Popup templates; setting

Manage User Preferences

From the Menu bar, select Tools, and then select Preferences. The User Preferences window opens. To set the default background color for templates, in the General tab, do one of the following : From the Template Color list, select one of the standard colors. Select Custom Color to create a custom color using the Color window. To turn the Auto Save option on or off, do the following: Select the Use Auto Save check box. Select the Up or Down arrow to set the Execution Time in minutes. The default is set to 20 minutes. You can automatically save the template you are currently working on at specified time intervals. The Auto Save option is not selected by default. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that you leave this option disabled if you are a beginner-level user. To turn the warning message for overlapping active images on or off, select or clear the Warn on active image(s) overlapping other fields check box. You can display a message when one or more active images overlap other field

Template Editor Main Window Components

The Template Editor main window opens when you launch the application. It contains the following elements: The Title bar displays the template name (template type) and contains controls for minimizing, maximizing, and closing the window. The Menu bar contains the File, Edit, View, Layout, Tools, and Help menus. Main toolbar Format toolbar Fields toolbar Quick Action toolbar The template design area is where you view, create, or edit a template. The template field list displays the name of each field on the currently open template. You can select a field in this pane to locate it in the design area. Layout toolbar Status bar You can drag any of the toolbars to another position at the top of the window or to the design area. If you move a toolbar to the design area, it becomes a detachable window that you can position vertically or horizontally.
