Set up Modify Patient Trigger

The Modify Patient action triggers the display of the Update Patient Information window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at run time. From the Modify Patient Information window, you can edit patient demographics and other information. The History tab of the window lists the changes you make. If you change the patient's name, the new name appears on the Title bar of the NextGen® Enterprise EHR main window. The Title bar also displays changes to the patient's date of birth, medical record number, gender, and Social Security number if practice preferences are set to display these fields. A Modify Patient option is also available on the File menu in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR application. Set up View Category Trigger

The View Category action automatically enables View Category mode in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the View Category action. The Select Category window opens. Select an existing category. To save the information and close the window, select OK. Set up Open Chart Trigger

The Open Chart action opens the patient chart for the preselected patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. To display the Open Chart window, select the Open Chart action. To specify which patient's chart should be opened, select a specific field or variable from the Person ID list. Open a Patient's Chart from the Task List

You can open a patient's chart or open the attachment associated with a task from the task list. Note: When a patient's chart is attached to an email and sent using the NextGen® Enterprise EHR email function, the data in the patient's chart is not encrypted. It may not be encrypted unless the email is sent through an external email system that uses encryption. Before using the NextGen® Enterprise EHR email function to send patient information, ensure that your system and processes comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Select the task in the task list. Below the details section, select Chart on the toolbar to open the desired encounter within the patient's chart. Note: If the selected task contains attachments (such as a document, template, or image), NextGen® Enterprise EHR opens the patient's chart and prompts you with the attachment.
