EXISTS String Function

Use: Determines if the provided parameter exists on a template. Syntax: {EXISTS( «string» )} Arguments: <<string>> String is the fieldname Returns: 1 = If the field exists on the template 0 = If the field does not exist on the template Example: {EXISTS(«field_name»)} Result: Returns 1 if field exists on the template else 0. ASSIGN Function

Use: Assigns the source value to a list of destination parameters (fields and/or variables). Syntax: {ASSIGN( «source» , «dest1», «dest2»,,,, )} Arguments: {source} Source value«dest1» Field or variable to be assigned the source value«dest2»,,,, (to «destn») Each additional field or variable to be assigned the source value Returns: The source value Example: Source value = ""dest1 = template_name_.field1dest2 = template_name_.field 2dest3 = @variable1{ASSIGN( "" , template_name_.field1 , template_name_.field2 , @variable1)} Result: An empty value is assigned to the destination fields and variable. FIND String Function

Use: Locates the first occurrence of a substring in a string, starting at a specified position from the beginning of the string. ATTRIB Function

Use: Returns a particular Field attribute setting for passed in field name. Syntax: {ATTRIB( «name» , «field» )} Arguments: «name» Field attribute setting«field» Field name Returns: The particular field attribute setting. SUBS String Function

ISEMPTY String Function

Use: Checks if a string in a data entry or note field is empty Syntax: {ISEMPTY( «string» )} {ISEMPTY( «string» )}=0 (can also be used to check for field that contains values; do not use =1) Arguments: «string» Character string to be evaluated Returns: 1 = True (empty) 0 = False (not empty) Example: {template_name_.memo_field} = contains text{ISEMPTY( template_name_.memo_field) }= 0 -Or- {ISEMPTY( template_name_.memo_field) } Result: 0 Example: {template_name_.note_field} = blank{ISEMPTY( template_name_.note_field) } Result: 1 Example: {template_name_.text_field} = contains text{ISEMPTY( template_name_.note_field) } Result: 0 Parent topic: Functions
