ISEMPTY String Function

Use: Checks if a string in a data entry or note field is empty Syntax: {ISEMPTY( «string» )} {ISEMPTY( «string» )}=0 (can also be used to check for field that contains values; do not use =1) Arguments: «string» Character string to be evaluated Returns: 1 = True (empty) 0 = False (not empty) Example: {template_name_.memo_field} = contains text{ISEMPTY( template_name_.memo_field) }= 0 -Or- {ISEMPTY( template_name_.memo_field) } Result: 0 Example: {template_name_.note_field} = blank{ISEMPTY( template_name_.note_field) } Result: 1 Example: {template_name_.text_field} = contains text{ISEMPTY( template_name_.note_field) } Result: 0 Parent topic: Functions

LEN String Function

Use the MEMOLEN string function instead of the LEN function for memo fields. Use the FIELDLEN string function with the LEN function to return the remaining number of characters that can be entered in a text-type data entry field. CONFIRM Function

Use: Displays a window with a user-defined confirmation message and Yes and No buttons. Syntax: CONFIRM( «string» , «caption», «icon», «condition»)} Arguments: «string» Message that prompts the user to click Yes or No«caption» Title of the window«icon» Icon to appear in front of the message: WARNING = ! NOTEQUAL Function

Use: Compares multiple fields or variables to a specified value to determine if all of their values are not equal. This function uses AND logic where each value being compared must not equal the source value in order to return a no equal value for the group. You can compare values with or without regard to case (case sensitive or case insensitive). For example, in a case-insensitive comparison, abc is the same as ABC or aBc. Note: The EQUAL function compares multiple fields or variables to a specified field or variable to determine if they are equal.
