The DEA Number associated with the provider is not found in the current DEA registry.
In File Maintenance, open the provider in the
Providers
master file.
The
Modify Provider Information
window opens.
Select the
Practice
tab.
Update the DEA Number.
Note:
DEA Numbers are two letters followed by seven numbers.
Select the
ePrescribing
tab.
In the
Networks
section, select open menu
.
Select
Retail
>
Enroll
.
The
EPrescribing Message Submission
window opens.
Select
OK

Update the DEA Number to Individual DEA Number
The DEA Number associated with the provider is found in the DEA registry, but it is listed as an institutional, rather than individual DEA Number. Each enrolled provider must have an individual DEA Number. In File Maintenance, open the provider in the Providers master file. The Modify Provider Information window opens. Select the Practice tab. Update the DEA Number to an individual DEA Number for the selected provider. Modify Provider Information Select the ePrescribing tab. In the Networks section, select open menu . Assign or Update the DEA Number of a Provider
Each provider must have a valid, active individual Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number to electronically prescribe controlled substances. Newly issued DEA numbers may take up to 30 days to be processed. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System, select Providers. The Providers List window opens. Double-click a provider. The Modify Provider Information window opens. In the Modify Provider Information window, select the Practice tab. Enter or update the DEA number for the provider as applicable. Modify Provider Information Select the ePrescribing tab. In the Networks section, select open menu, and then select Retail. Select Enroll or Update as applicable.
