Process Items in the Import Section

The Import section displays the clinical data available for import based on the Import tab selected (Medications, Medication Allergies, and so on). For each item listed you can choose to perform an action.

All items in the Import section have a default action of Add if they do not exist or match to an item in the patient’s chart. If the Clinical Reconciliation module determines that an item in both the EHR and Import sections match, it sets the Import action to Ignore automatically.

Select the type of clinical data you want to reconcile.
Select the item you want to reconcile.
1. To view additional clinical information, slide the scroll bar at the bottom of the Import section right.
2. Select a column header to sort data in ascending/descending order.
3. If you are on the Medications tab or the Medications Administered tab, you can right-click the Import section and select Apply Default Sort to display the original view.
To display a medication's National Drug Code (NDC), a medication allergy's Unique Ingredient Identifier (UNII) or a problem's Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED®) code, expand the Action column.
Select a command in the Action column.
A list of actions displays.
Select one of the following actions (if any) to perform:
- None - No action is taken and no action is logged to Reconciliation History.
- Ignore - No action is taken, but an entry is logged to Reconciliation History.
- Add - The selected item is added to the patient's chart, and the action is logged to Reconciliation History.
- Replace - The selected item replaces an existing item in the patient's chart, and the action is logged to Reconciliation History.
When you select to replace an item, the Data to Match window opens.
Select the item in the Existing EHR Data section you want to replace and select OK.
In the EHR section, the Clinical Reconciliation module automatically matches the selected item to its counterpart in the Import section.
- For medications and administered medications, the EHR action changes to Stop. Once the change is confirmed, the Import medication is added and the EHR medication becomes inactive.
- For medication allergies:
  - In unlocked encounters, the EHR action changes to Delete. Once the change is confirmed, the Import medication allergy is added and the original EHR medication allergy is deleted.
  - In locked encounters, the EHR action changes to Resolve. Once the change is confirmed, the Import medication allergy is added and the EHR medication allergy is marked as resolved.
  - Medication allergies that have a resolved date, the resolved date is updated to the current date.
  - You cannot replace a medication allergy that contains multiple ingredients. You can however, add the medication allergy.
  - If a medication allergy has more than five reactions, then only the first five reactions are listed.
  - When you replace a medication allergy, the existing list of reactions is deleted and replaced by the list of reactions in the imported item. The lists are not merged.
- For procedures, diagnosis codes, social history, and vital signs, updates are not permitted in locked encounters.
- For problems, the EHR action changes to Delete.
- For Replaced immunizations, the EHR action changes to Cancel. The imported immunization is then added as a new order, and the original immunization order is marked as canceled.
Add any user notes.
Your proposed changes display in the Reconciliation Summary section.
