Modify, Replace, or Delete Guarantors
Open the
Person Information
or
Patient Information
window for the desired person or patient.
Select the
Relations/Role
tab.
Select the open record
icon.
Either the
Modify Guarantor Information
or
Employer Maintenance
window opens.
If needed, update information on the current guarantor, or select
Delete
.
To replace the guarantor, do the following:
Select
Change
, enter search criteria, and then select
Find
.
In
Matching Records
, select or create a record for the new guarantor.
In the
Modify Guarantor Information
window, enter or update the information, including the
Relationship
field.
Select
OK
.

Designate a Person or Employer as the Guarantor
Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Relations/Role tab. In Guarantor, select the open menu icon, and then select either Person as Guarantor or Employer as Guarantor. If the patient is the guarantor, from the Guarantor Lookup window, select Self. If the guarantor is a person other than the patient, from the Guarantor Lookup window, do the following: Enter search criteria, and then select Find. In Matching Records, double-click an existing guarantor, or select New to add a record for the guarantor. In the Modify Guarantor Information window, update the information. In Relationship, select the guarantor's relationship to the patient, and then select OK. If the employer is the guarantor for employer-sponsored accounts, from the Employer Lookup window, do the following: Enter the employer's name, and then select Find. Guarantor Information
In the Guarantor section of the Relations/Roles tab, you can enter the person designated as the chart-level guarantor for a patient. This person defaults as the guarantor on all new encounters created for the patient, and is financially responsible for any outstanding unpaid patient balances. The information is saved for established patients with an existing chart, and for new patients when the chart is created. Guarantor information is stored at the practice level; therefore, each practice can enter and maintain different information for a patient. Change a Guarantor
Open the Patient Information window for the desired patient. Select the Relations/Roles tab. The Guarantor section displays the current guarantor. Select the Open Record button. If the current guarantor is a person, the Modify Guarantor Information window appears. If the current guarantor is an employer, the Employer Maintenance window appears. Select Change. The following prompt appears: Change guarantor to? Do one of the following: To change the guarantor to a person, select Person. The Guarantor Lookup window appears. To change the guarantor to an employer, select Employer. The Employer Lookup window appears. Enter the desired Search Criteria to find the person or employer. Select Find. All persons and patients, or employers, that match the search criteria entered display in the Matching Records list. If no records are found, the following prompt appears: No records were found!
