Managing Patient Documents

You can use Document Builder to perform the following: Build document formats to generate specific patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Import and export document formats and their macros using the Document Import/Export utility. View existing patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Generate new patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can also generate patient documents offline using Document Builder TX Text. Patient Document Generation

You can generate patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR on the workstation you are logged on to or offline on a remote workstation. Before generating a particular document, make sure that you have selected a patient. Also you can check that all the relevant data is entered into the patient medical record. You can select options to save or print a patient document or send it to a patient account on NextGen® PxP Portal website when it is generated. You can create documents in two other ways: A template may be configured with a Launch Document trigger that you can execute to generate a document. Use NextGen® Enterprise EHR Quick View feature to generate a document in real time as you work on a patient encounter. You can then save and attach the document to the patient chart. Print Patient Documents

You can print one or more documents that you have generated. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, generate a new patient document, or open an existing patient document. If desired, preview the patient document before you print it. From the Menu bar, select File > Print, or select the Print icon on the Document bar in the viewer. If you have not previously saved your document, the Save Document window opens. Select OK. The Print window opens. Select the desired printer. To print a group of patient documents, use the Custom Print\Fax function in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select OK to print your document. Process Patient Documents Offline

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select each document you want to generate offline. Access the Document Queue utility. Document Queue is usually running and begins processing the documents sent for offline generation. If you need to turn the utility on, refer Run Document Queue. You can change Document Queue processing options and the display of completed documents. Review the list of queued and generating documents in the Pending pane. Cancel document generation, if required. Review any processing errors in the EMR Docproc Errors log. View processing results in the Queue Manager window. Note: Archive copies of documents generated offline are made with each revision. Patient Documents

Patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR can be a medical or lab report, a referral form, a professional letter, or any other custom-designed form. You can generate new patient documents from previously created user-defined format documents in the Document Builder. When a patient document is generated, macros in format documents insert data from selected template fields. A patient document can be created locally or remotely on a remote workstation. The patient documents are attached to the applicable encounter in the patient's chart. The patient's chart may also contain documents created outside Document Builder. Third-party documents are imported through the NextGen® Interface Engine Document Import Agent. NextGen® Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Continuity-of-Care (CCD) documents are attached to the NextGen® HIE Documents Category of the Categories tab.
