Answer AOE Questions for a Test

In the Select Tests tab, select a test that has AOE questions attached to it. Select the button next to the question to open the Test Details tab. The AOE questions associated with the test appear. A question is in bold if an answer is required. If you are ordering several tests for the same test order, and more than one asks the same AOE question, an icon appears before the test name. To display a tooltip, hover over the icon. Do one of the following: Enter the answer in the Answer field. For some questions, select in the Answer field, and select the answer from the list at the right of the Answer field. Select Save or Save & Send. If you try to save without entering an answer, a message appears prompting you to answer the question. If the answer is accepted, the order is saved. Link a Template Field to an AOE Question and Answer

For some AOE Questions, you can link the answer from a template field. For example, you can link the patient's race from the patient's chart. You can define the link to a template field for an AOE question and answer in File Maintenance. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Order AOE Questions. Select a test from the list. Select Template from the Source Type list. The Template name and Field fields open for input. From the field lists, select a template name and field to associate with this AOE answer. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order AOE Questions. Select open menu and select New.The Order AOE Questions dialog box opens. Select the drop-down list and select a performing entity (lab or radiology) system for this question. Enter the order test value Code specific to the performing system being used. These codes are sent to the user by the performing entity and are different for each performing entity's list of tests. Select the drop-down arrow to select a Source Type. Select the desired value to select one. Free Text. The user can enter any value. List. The user must make a selection from a pre-defined AOE Answers list. Template. To define Ask at Order Entry (AOE) questions in NextGen® Enterprise, you must gather the following information for each question you use with any testing performed at your practice, and then create entries for the question(s) using File Maintenance.
