Orders Summary Grid Columns

The following table lists the columns that may appear on the Orders Summary grid for Lab and Radiology orders based on the pre-defined or user-defined filter you select. Column Description Image Type Opens an icon indicating the order type. This column appears by default for all filters. Comments Contains a link to the associated comments in the Sign-off and Tracking Comments panel. Documents Contains a link to an associated document or image or URL in the Results panel for the specific order. Recurrence Opens an icon indicating a future or recurring order. You can select the icon to open the View Order Schedule window where you can view order schedule. Ordered Elsewhere Opens an icon indicating the order was created outside the NextGen® Enterprise system. Order # The number assigned to an order when you create and save a new order. Order Statuses for Common Test Order Cycle Events

Once a test is ordered and saved, the test order cycle phases begin. The following table provides a list of common test order cycle events and the statuses that appear on the Orders Summar grid. Using the Orders Summary Tab

The Orders Summary tab provides order information in the following panels: Orders panel. View, update, and track existing orders and create orders for the current patient. Results panel. View test results from an interface or manually enter test results and related documents for the current patient. This panel is collapsed when you open the Orders Summary tab, but you can expand it to view its contents. Sign-off and Tracking Comments panel. View and add order tracking or sign-off comments. Order Result Statuses for Other Test Processing Events or Issues

For lab or radiology test orders sent to a performing entity, you can track the current state of test processing or issues that arise by the description shown in the Result Status column on the Orders Summary grid. The following table provides possible processing events or issues that may affect a lab or radiology order and the result status description. If you select order statuses manually from the Result Status list on the Orders Summary Results panel for a new test order, the Orders Summary grid displays the status you selected. The Orders module does not automatically generate the status. Order Test Processing Event or Issue Result Status A test order with erroneous information has been sent from the performing entity. Once corrected, the system sends the order again with the corrected result. Corrected The performing entity has received the order, but the results are not yet final. Preliminary Order information is missing. Unavailable An order was sent electronically but no speci

Lab and Radiology Order Test Cycle Common Workflow Examples

Example 1: The test order is sent and processed successfully. User Action: Saves and sends an order to an external performing entity (for example, Labcorp). Result: On the Orders Summary tab, the system displays Ordered in the NextGen Status column and Pending in the Result Status column. System Action: Sends the order to the performing entity. If the order is sent successfully to the performing entity through the NextGen Clinical Message Manager interface, the system displays Sent in the NextGen Status column. System Action: Displays the current status of the test. The system displays the lab result status for test order in the Result Status column. If the test results have not been obtained by the performing entity, the system displays Pending in the Result Status column System Action: Sends test order results for access in the Orders module.
