Twinrix Immunizations Dose Schedule Display Examples

When the user administers the Twinrix combination, the system displays the Status and Dose due dates on the Chart tab according to the Twinrix dosage interval recommendations. The system displays Twinrix in the Status column on the Chart tab to indicate that the dose being recommended is based on the Twinrix schedule. If a user selects to administer the Hep A and Hep B vaccines individually, instead of selecting Twinrix, the system displays the doses for each immunization on the Chart tab in separate rows and columns. For the Hepatitis immunization series, the immunization due dates display on the Chart tab according to the monovalent or combination dosing schedule, which is based on the last dose the patient received. After the patient receives the first vaccine (for example, Twinrix), if the provider selects a different vaccine in the Hepatitis immunization series for the second dose, such as monovalent Hep A or Hep B, the system calculates the next dose due date (Dose 3) based on a

Updated Vaccine Dosage Recommendations

The recombinant zoster vaccine (Shingrix) is recommended for patients starting at age 50. After the first dose, a second dose is recommended based on the patient's dosage schedule, which then completes the Zoster Immunization series. The Immunizations module includes rules and conditions to guide the system in displaying the proper vaccines to be administered to a patient. These conditions and rules are based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) immunizations scheduling recommendations and other governmental guidelines. As new regulations and patient safety considerations occur in various iterations, the schedules and different vaccine dosage rules that the Immunizations module uses are updated. The system also evaluates the components of a patient’s chart to determine if additional doses of a vaccine are needed, such as the patient age, dates of previous doses administered, and number of doses already completed. Create a Vaccine Custom Name for an Adult Vaccine Example

Scenario: Your practice wants to set up a vaccine custom name for the adult combination vaccine Hepatitis A & Hepatitis B using the trade name Twinrix. In File Maintenance, select System > EHR > Vaccine Custom Name. The Vaccine Custom Name List window opens. To add the Twinrix Vaccine Custom Name, select the Open Menu button, and then select New. The Add Vaccine Custom Name window opens. Select the vaccine from the CPT Description list. For example, the 90636 CPT description is Hepatitis A & Hepatitis B. In the Vaccine Custom Name field, enter Twinrix. Note: The system applies the Vaccine Custom Name to all practices in the enterprise, not just the current practice you are logged on. To update the Vaccine Custom Name as a favorite, select the Update Vaccine Favorites check box. To save the Vaccine Custom Name, select OK. When the user creates or updates an Immunization order, on the Select Vaccines tab, the system displays the custom name Twinrix in the Select Vaccine favorites list. Y

Add an Immunization to an Administered Immunizations Order

Open the Orders module and select the Orders Summary tab. To add a new Immunizations to an existing order, right-click the immunizations order and select Update or double-click the immunizations order. The Vaccine Details tab appears. Select the Select Vaccines tab, select the appropriate vaccine from the list, or select a search option. For example, a patient also received a Hep B immunization during the visit and the immunization needs to be added to the original Immunizations order. The system adds the selected vaccine to the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Vaccines section. Select the Vaccine Details tab. Select the new Immunizations order from the list of vaccines to administer, for example, Hep B. Select the Registry from the list, if necessary. Select the Lot Number or enter the number manually and any other vaccine or clinical information, as required. Select the appropriate Save option. The system adds the Immunization, updates the status to Administered, and updates the registry
