Order Component Information

Field	Description
System ID	Select a testing entity. This can be a lab or radiology location. Examples are Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics.
Key	Enter a specific order component key. This is provided by the vendor.
Description	Enter a description of an order component. This is a text description such as Glucose, Sodium, and others.
Code System	Enter the Code System. This is an agreed upon ID for the testing entity such as "L" for Labcorp.
Units	Specify the type of units for the selected order component. This can be values such as ug/dL, %, Thous/mcl, and others.
Ref Range	Enter the acceptable range of results for the selected test order component. Examples are values such as 3.8-10.8, 130-400, F: 12-14; M 14-18.
LOINC Code	This is the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) universal coding for test results. This allows providers to view results coming back from different performing entities on the same line in the order flow sheet.

Add or Modify Order Components

Each type of test performed has a normal range of results expected for the information returned with the completed test. These expected result details are defined using File Maintenance as components of the test. This also eases the use of manual result entry. When entering results in the module the expected result list is shown and only the result and status information would need to be entered rather than all of the information. This section is also used for LOINC mapping (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) between different performing entity components. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Order Components. The Order Components List window opens. From the List access box, do one of the following: To add a new item, select the Open Menu icon, and then select New. Define LOINC Codes for Order Components for Each Vendor

From File Maintenance, use Order Components to define a component and related LOINC Code for each vendor that you use. For example, Labcorp has a glucose component, Orchard has a glucose component, and Quest Diagnostics has a glucose component. Load LOINC codes and define the test clinical name. To define the LOINC Code for an Order Component, from File Maintenance, select System > Order Components. In the Order Components List, enter the name of a Component Desc. in the Order Components List Search field, and select the desired item in the list that appears. The Add/Modify Order Component Information window opens. Select the folder in the Loinc Code section. The Map LOINC Code to Component window opens. Enter the test order name, and then select the desired LOINC code to add it to the Included section and map this code to the test component. Select OK. Test Order Information

Field Description System The test vendor. Key A specific order test key. The order test Key must match the key used by the specific vendor. Each vendor has to provide a list of test orders and their keys to NextGen Healthcare to use to define tests for a NextGen database. Description A description of the lab test. Order Type Code System The code to identify the test vendor. Common abbreviations are L for Labcorp, Q for Quest Diagnostics, and H for Orchard. This field serves no purpose in NextGen® Enterprise. The testing entity defines this value. Cost The cost of performing the test. This value can only be a positive number. This value is used with the Advanced Beneficiary Notice feature. Days to expect results The number of days until results for a specific test will be received for a lab or radiology order, if necessary. Run the Orders Management Console and load the LOINC codes. Order Components Master File

The Order Components master file stores units and reference range data for individual tests. This means that you can manually add or modify lab components in the Order Components master file. Components make up the actual test. Therefore, after creating a test in the Order Test master file, add components to the appropriate test. If you are entering the test results manually, the Order Components master file ensures that once matched with the test, the master file automatically populates the fields in the result section of the Edit Results dialog box. All you must enter is the result and appropriate flag. Everything else populates because of the Order Components master file. The information included in the Order Components master file is a System ID, a key to identify the test, a description, a code for the performing entity, units associated with the test, and the acceptable value range for results from the test.
