Set Allergy Interactions Display Level

You can set the allergy interactions display levels in the DUR Preferences as per your preference to see allergy interactions or inactive ingredient interactions in the Drug Interaction window. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the top toolbar, select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Select the Medications tab. Select DUR. The DUR Preferences window opens. Select the Allergy Interactions Display Level tab. Select a display level. To display the inactive medication ingredient interactions along with the allergy interactions, select the Allergy Interaction checking for Inactive Medication Ingredients check box. To display the interactions based on the universal system setting, select the Use System Default check box. Note: The Use System Default option disables Allergy Interaction checking for Inactive Medication Ingredients and the display levels. Select OK. Parent topic: Drug to Allergy Interaction

The Medication Interactions window displays allergy interactions according to the display levels set for the system and specific user. There are three levels of medication allergy interaction: Level 3. All significant and cross-sensitivity medication allergy alerts. Level 2. All significant medication allergy interactions. Level 1. Drug to Allergy Interaction

A new medication prescribed to a patient can have a negative interaction with a patient's medication allergy. If such interaction occurs the Drug Interaction window opens. The Drug Interaction window lists the medication that caused the interaction, and information for each listed patient medication allergy. The Reference at the bottom of the window displays the citation for the DUR information. You must acknowledge all notices listed in the Drug Interaction window and specify the reason for overriding the warning. The medication interaction process displays drug interactions according to the display levels set for the system and a specific user. The medication interaction process does not perform checks on user-defined medications or user-define allergies. If the Enterprise option to check for interactions across practices is enabled, the medication interaction process checks for possible interactions across all practices. The Medication Interactions functionality displays drug-disease contraindications according to the display levels set up for the system and a specific user. There are three levels of the Drug Disease Contraindications: Level 3: Moderate Interactions. Conservative measures are recommended until more is known (little clinical data exists). Level 2: Severe Interactions. Assess risk to patient and take action as needed. Level 1: Contraindicated Interactions. Action to reduce adverse effect of interaction is usually required.
