eRx Validation
A prescription cannot be submitted electronically if the selected medication exceeds one of the following National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) SCRIPT Standard limits:
- The patient's first name or last name has more than 70 characters.
- The patient's street address or prescriber's street address has more than 40 characters.
- The SIG, including the as needed reason, has more than 1000 characters.
- The Non-Clinical Notes to Pharmacy (comments) has more than 210 characters.
A prescription cannot be submitted electronically if the selected medication does not contain any of the following for ePrescribing:
- SIG Code
- Unit code
- Numeric quantity value
When the NCPDP SCRIPT Standards are not met and you try to submit a prescription electronically, eRx Validation error message appears.
On the error message, you can either select Fax to send the prescription or select Close and Fix to resolve the errors before sending the prescription.
