Configure Medical Necessity Check for Laboratory and Diagnostic Order Items

In File Maintenance, you can configure the settings for Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) to automatically run Medical Necessity Check when you select a laboratory or diagnostic order item. Note: For more information on Practice Preferences in File Maintenance, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest File Maintenance Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Practices.The Practices List window opens. Double-click a practice name.The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences.The Practice Preferences window opens. Under Preference List, select Orders Module, and then select the Lab/Rad tab. To automatically run the Medical Necessity Check when you select a laboratory or diagnostic order item, select Run Medical Necessity Check when order is saved. Select OK. Configure CPOE Order Search Bar

You can configure the settings to show or hide the CPOE Order Search Bar in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at the following levels. Practice level in File Maintenance. User level in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To configure the CPOE Order Search Bar at the practice level, do the following: Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. Double-click a practice name. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. Under Preference List, select EHR. Select the Enable CPOE Order Search Bar check box. Note: Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) selects the Enable CPOE Order Search Bar check box by default. Configure Common Orders Display Period

The COMMON ORDERS list in Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) displays a list of the twenty most-frequently ordered items at the user and practice levels. You can set the period that CPOE uses to display the most-frequently ordered items. The default value is 90 days and the maximum limit is 999 days. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. Practices List in File Maintenance Double-click a practice name. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. Under Preference List, select Orders Module. Select the All tab. In Commonly Used Orders Show for the past, enter the number of days. Commonly Used Orders Option in Practice Preferences Note: The COMMON ORDERS list in CPOE displays a user’s most-frequently ordered items based on the period you specify in Commonly Used Orders Show for the past. Configure Allergy Check for Immunization Order Items

In File Maintenance, you can configure the enabling and disabling of the Allergy Review window for immunization order items. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Practices.The Practices List window opens. Double-click a practice name.The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences.The Practice Preferenceswindow opens. Under Preference List, select Orders Module, and then select the Imm tab. To disable the Review Allergies window when selecting immunization order items, select the Disable Allergies Review before Ordering check box. Select OK. Configure Performing Entity for Practice Preferences

You can configure the Practice Preferences settings for both laboratory and radiology order items for a selected practice. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select EHR, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. Double-click a practice name. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. Under Preference List, select Orders Module. Select the Lab/Rad tab. To display the laboratory or radiology performing entities, select the details icon in the Selected Performing Entities section. Note: The Selected Performing Entities list is applicable to both the Preferred Performing Entity and In-House Performing Entity lists. If you change a value in Selected Performing Entities, the new value also appears in In-House Performing Entity with a notification. The Performing Entities window opens. You can configure the location preference settings for both laboratory and radiology order items for a selected location. Open File Maintenance. From Master Files, select EHR, and then select Locations. The Locations List window opens. Double-click a location. The Location Information window opens. Select the Order Module tab. To display the laboratory or radiology performing entities, select the details icon in the Selected Performing Entities section. The Performing Entities window opens. To add and remove the laboratory and radiology performing entities, use the right and left arrow icons. Select OK. The Selected Performing Entities list is applicable for both the Preferred Performing Entity and In-House Performing Entity lists. If you change a value in Selected Performing Entities, the change also appears in In-House Performing Entity with a notification.
