Configure Performing Entity for Location Preferences

You can configure the location preference settings for both laboratory and radiology order items for a selected location.
  1. Open File Maintenance.
  2. From Master Files, select EHR, and then select Locations.
    The Locations List window opens.

  3. Double-click a location.
    The Location Information window opens.

  4. Select the Order Module tab.
  5. To display the laboratory or radiology performing entities, select the details icon in the Selected Performing Entities section.
    The Performing Entities window opens.

  6. To add and remove the laboratory and radiology performing entities, use the right and left arrow icons.
  7. Select OK.
    • The Selected Performing Entities list is applicable for both the Preferred Performing Entity and In-House Performing Entity lists. If you change a value in Selected Performing Entities, the change also appears in In-House Performing Entity with a notification.
    • If there are no Selected Performing Entities at the location level, the system uses the selected performing entities set at the practice level.
    • If there are no entries in either the location or the practice level selected lists, the system loads all available performing entities in the In-House Performing Entity.
  8. Select the laboratory and radiology Preferred Performing Entity from the list.
To set the default value for the PERFORMING ENTITY list in Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), you can configure Preferred Performing Entity based on the following:
    • Payer of the patient’s insurance.
    • Location (if not configured for the payer).
    • Practice (if not configured for the location and payer).

When payer, location, or practice configurations are not available, To Be Determined appears in the CPOE PERFORMING ENTITY list. In this case, CPOE creates the order using the compendium code.

  9. Select the laboratory and radiology In-House Performing Entity from the available performing entities in the list.
  10. To save your preferences, select OK.
