Configure Significant Event Tracking for NextGen® Document Management

The significant events are categorized as enterprise, practice, and system levels. The significant events log entry generates when you perform the following actions: Export a document Import a file Import a directory Automatically import a directory Append a page to a filed document You can view the Significant Event record by generating a Significant Events report in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Do one of the following: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > Preferences > Significant Events. In System Administrator, select View > Significant Events. The Significant Event Information window opens displaying the list of significant events. Select the significant events related to NextGen® Document Management, and then select OK. Generate the Significant Events Report

Access the NextGen® Enterprise PM application. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the menu, select Reports, and then select General > Significant Events. In Report Filter: Significant Events, set the report filters. Ensure that at least the Chart and Person event source options are selected. Select OK. The report generates. Search for Images and Documents

When you search for documents and images inNextGen® Document Management,you can search among the categories, documents types, and fields you previously assigned to each document and image. The search criteria are not case sensitive. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Search to open the Image Lookup window. To include images that are not filed to a patient or person, select the Search Non-Person Images checkbox. Search for a patient image by using a single field or a combination of multiple fields. You must enter at least two letters to perform a search. You can use wildcard characters (*), but do not use a wildcard character as the first character of your search criteria. Note: For accurate search results, you can enter more patient details in the search criteria. The Matching Records grid displays the list of patients who are associated with images that match your search results. View Significant Events for Charge Discounts

You can view significant events for charge discounts from the following areas in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Patient Chart > Clinical History/Notes tab Significant Events Report To view the significant events for charge discounts in Patient Chart > Clinical History/Notes tab, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Chart. The Patient Lookup window opens. Enter Search Criteria to locate the desired patient. Select Find. All existing persons and patients that match the search criteria display in the Matching Records section of the window. In the Matching Records list, double-click to open the patient. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Clinical History/Notes tab. Select History, and then select Encounters. The section on the right displays significant event messages for all encounters. Each message includes Date/Time, Creator, and Description information. Messages related to charge discounts include the following: Patient Discount [Transaction Code] Created Patient Disc

Significant Events Report

The Significant Events report provides an audit trail for specific user activity that has occurred within the NextGen Enterprise applications. These are known as significant events. When a significant event occurs, a message is recorded in each patient's chart. The message includes the name of the user that performed the event, the date/time the event occurred, and both pre-modification and post-modification information. Some significant events are System Level and are recorded for all practices in all enterprises. Other events are Enterprise Level and are recorded for all practices within the same enterprise. Other events are Practice Level and are recorded for the practice(s) in which they have been enabled. Using NextGen® Document Management with Other Applications

When you open a patient image in NextGen® Document Management while NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen® Enterprise EHR is open, the patient chart associated with the NextGen® Document Management image opens in the other application. NextGen® Document Management also displays the image of the active patient. This sequence of actions does not occur when you access NextGen® Document Management with Clinical Context Object Workgroup (CCOW). To synchronize with the active patient, you can select Active Patient from the Tasks menu. From NextGen® Document Management, you can open NextGen® Enterprise EHR demographic and MRN templates. You can access images associated with encounters from the list of encounters that appears in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can include images in the workflow. You can right-click a task in the workflow and select the Open Patient's Document option to display the images associated with the task.
